I'd just like to hear everyone's opinions on this subject.
Personally, I believe there's a chance he could be. Perhaps I'm just in denial, but J.K. has a way of surprising us. Besides, read page 812 carefully. There's this part where Bellatrix says something like, "Master, I was fighting the animagus Sirius Black [not, 'I killed the animagus Sirius Black']....But Master... he is here... he is below!"
Perhaps the veil isn't an enrance to the world of the dead like it was portrayed as (or at least, I assume that's what it was intended to look like, correct me if I'm wrong), but something else? Something much more complicated?
Maybe I'm just too hopeful. But seriously (no pun intended), I don't think J.K. would have killed Sirius off so soon after bringing him into the story in such an elaborate way. She'd just begun spinning the threads of his character, developing him and giving the audience a deeper look at him. What are your thoughts? |

She just did it so she could get her readers hooked into reading the other books to see if he comes back. It's her own fault people are starting to dislike it. She didn't make another book for what, two years? Then it's way different than her usual style... I think she just 'killed him off' for the time being to raise sales. |

"I think she just 'killed him off' for the time being to raise sales."
I agree with that, but she has to do something in book six. She can't put it off forever.
"It's her own fault people are starting to dislike it. She didn't make another book for what, two years?"
Yea, I'd agree there as well. I know it's a lot of work to write a book, especially when you have the pressure of having to satisfy millions of people. But the fact that she kept getting her fans' hopes up with empty promises of when it'd be out and such really irritates me.
"Then it's way different than her usual style"
Yet another thing that let me down. The characters did not act like themselves, it was hard to get into, and I didn't get that "feeling" that I got from the previous books. As I've said earlier, it was like sitting down to the table, expecting a feast, and being served a crust of bread. |

I'm writing this darkfic in which Sirius returns and hunts for Peter and the whole veil thing is hard to work on. Beh.
Anyway, I'm portraying as the portal to... *drumroll* the Land of the Lost. Heh. Ain't no Land o' the Dead, but still. As it is, my theory of his return -- IF he returns -- would be that he fell through the veil BEFORE he died (conveniently ignoring the fact that AK is instant... ) and therefore could return to life to finish off his task... killing Peter.
So yes, that's my theoretic rambling over! I have this annoying habit of creating rather long and pointless theories on points canon has not revealed. Heh.
But seriously (no pun intended), I don't think J.K. would have killed Sirius off so soon after bringing him into the story in such an elaborate way. She'd just begun spinning the threads of his character, developing him and giving the audience a deeper look at him. What are your thoughts?
I don't know. After all, she *did* say somewhere, that as she killed him off, she cried too. Anyway, I sort of dislike Sirius -- would hate him, if he weren't so damn psychologically fascinating. I hope she doesn't bring him back; that sort of thing, going against previous books etc., really annoys me. But then, inconsistencies are rather *bleh*.
Then it's way different than her usual style

I agree with you. They *were* different and not quite so enjoyable as before. But, personally, I prefered it. Why? Because it was *darker*. Harry actually acted like a teen -- finally -- and started having argument. Capslock!Harry really amused me, in fact. ^_^ Voldie was no longer such a pantomime villain, and Neville came into his own. *much luff to Nevvy!!*
In relation to the other books, I can't wait to see how Peter and Remus are killed off! > I mean, it makes sense, if you think about it enough... and this is coming from a Peter!fan... |

I used to be obsessed with Harry Potter Fanfics. True, he was more like a teenager, but the other characters just seemed off. Her whole way of writing was somewhat distorted, I'm not sure how to explain it. I'm just excited about the next book and movie. |
