| I thought the book was very very very symbolic in which could have been its downfall but I did like the book and I did read the gathering blue and yet to read the messenger ^_^ |

				| I thought that book was great. I loved the whole 'learning to see red' part of it. The concept of not being able to see color was really quite unique. Overall, a good story - it reminded me of Fahrenheit 451, which is written by one of my favorite authors of all time (Ray Bradbury). |

				 Ray Bradbury? The one novel I had to read that was written by him (Dandelion Wine) has been burned into my memory because of how boring-intensive it was.

I liked his short stories, like The Veldt, though. :)

As for The Giver, I was quite young when I read that, so I didn't think it was quite that interesting. The idea of "utopia" was something interesting, though. _________________

				 Ray Bradbury is the best! You should try reading Something Wicked This Way Comes - I think it's fantastic. His short stories are good too. Isn't The Veldt one of the stories out of The Illustrated Man?

*coughs*

Anyway, yeah, The Giver... That's one of those books that everyone reads in grade school, and I somehow missed out on it. I read it last year after taking some "What book at you?" test, and finding out that I was supposedly The Giver. Not sure what that's supposed to mean. ^^; |

Maybe. I just remember that my English teacher photocopied it out of a book, most likely some sort of anthology. ^^; That was a creepy one, but I liked it. ^^; Aren't a lot of his short stories about how viciously destructive kids can be? I think my teacher said that... ^^;

Yeah, I had to read The Giver because the other book we were supposed to be doing a novel study on... Well, I'd already read that book before, so my teacher thought she'd give me something I hadn't read yet. And you're supposedly The Giver? Well, maybe. I couldn't say 'cause it's been a long time since I've read the book. ^^; _________________

				 Arg ><; I hated that book. Because it was boring. I mean sure they lived in a world where they had no free will and the government was controlling them completely, but I mean it was just so boring. I yawned through most of it.

*spoiler*

There wasn't much action for the exception of the getting away part and the part where the boy and the baby gets away. _________________

				 It ended in a way most people considers "artistic" but I didn't like that, just tell me if they died or lived! sheesh! <_< _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

				 Lived or died? I don't think I even cared about what happened in the end when I read it. I just remember two things: the kid ran away in the ending, and in the book they had to give old people baths as some sort of ritual type thing. Except I don't remember why.

Oh yeah. And everything in their world was "black and white". :/ _________________

				| I don't think the ending for The Giver was as bad as the ending for The Lady and the Tiger. That story consisted completely of setup for the ending, and then it refused to tell you what actually happened. ._. |

				 I only read 15 novels in my life, Harry Potter being 6 of them. :mellow:

All the books I've read over the years have all been nonfictions... yes, I'm a bit uncreative when it comes to writing part. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |
