Artist Of The Month Polls

Instead of just having artist of the month, why not break it down into several catagories such as Anime/Manga Artist, Realism Artist, etc.?

And instead of making the Admins chose the winners, make it into polls on the main site for the members. Use a bravenet poll thing and put it under the Pictures of the Hour list or somewhere on the side there.

Realism Artist of the Month

FAC majority = Inuyasharoxmahsox

There could be on-going poll in the Site Helper's section... :huh:

although I agree having Realism artist of the month will spotlight people who don't get much recognition because they don't draw anime...

but there are less of them here than the anime artists... so that could be biased that way too...

after awhile, my suggestion will make sense to you. But not right now. Admins can see where this will work, if they try.. I just can't say

It's feasable at least.

If you don't want everyone and thier grandma with a pc to be able to vote, make it so only people who are logged in can vote.

Keeping the # of artists chosen per month a low figure is good, it makes the nomination more 'special'.

If we had to pick just two categories, I'd recommend they be:

- Fanartist of the Month (e.g. anime/manga, games, etc.)
- Realism/Fantasy Artist of the Month

After all, there's a WHOLE FREAKIN' LOT more to art than just anime/manga... it needs more attention Razz

Not only does making several categories reduce how special it is, it will eventually drag down the quality. Especially in some categories that only have a handful of top level artists, after a few months you're left featuring average work.

As it is, everyone who is nominated has just as much chance to win as anyone else. As you see, Seifer-Sama just now won. Were it a vote, she'd have probably won in the first month. Two artists a month works well. I don't have a problem with dividing the nominations between two categories, but it should still be a random draw. If you're good enough to be nominated, you're good enough to win and won't be filed halfway down the list under all the artists more talented.

but there will be some other stuff in the near future that will be notable along these lines.
