Anyone watch it? Interesting mix of pop, rap, and a few older acts. Wish they'd have put all the acts I wanted to see first, though. :(
Random thoughts:
Destiny's Child: I hate choreography. With a passion. Wasn't this advertised as their last televised performance or something? Thank god.
Rob Thomas: When did he get ugly with music ten times worse than Matchbox 20?
Gwen Stefani: I may not like her, but I used to think she was an ok singer. Either the song really sucked, or she was way off key because it was painful to listen to.
Those rap dudes: no comment
David Bowie: When is David not good? Wasn't his best performance ever, but it was pretty damn good in comparison. I'm so happy he did Life On Mars instead of something horribly overdone like Rebel Rebel or Fashion. His new haircut sucks. Lovely fake blackened right eye and bandaged left wrist.
Duran Duran: I've never really liked Duran Duran. Girls On Film was ok, I really hate this setup where all the performers have the stupid girls dancing through the songs. At least Life On Mars didn't have shitty models lounging around.
David Bowie with Arcade Fire: Five Years, another song that isn't overplayed. <3 Not crazy about Arcade Fire, but whatever. Bowie's Bowie.
Joss Stone: Something about her rubs me the wrong way, but she's one of the best females on the whole damn thing. Can sing and isn't a ridiculous Barbie doll. I dunno, probably that I just don't like her songs. And her dress was ugly.
Rob Thomas/Joss Stone: I like that song. They did it ok. Beats my friends who do it on karaoke every damn time and butcher it.
Alicia Keys - I hate her. Someone beat her with a stick, please.
That little trio thing - kill them.
Billy Idol/Lisa Marie Presley - What. The. Fuck. Billy's still marvelous and was spot on for the entire song, proving he can still sing like he used to even if the new album is a bit different style, but what the hell was Lisa Marie doing there? She absolutely killed it. I guess she was trying to sing harmony, but it didn't even sound like she was singing the same song. Luckily Billy drowned out most of her voice, but jesus christ. Someone turn off her mic or something, the woman can't even carry a relatively simple tune. Billy, though, looked and sounded fabulous, as did Steve.
Meh. Figures they made me wait till the very end to see Billy. Ah well, background noise. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I never really pay attention to these things mostly because of the fact that I have to wait through a bunch of acts I don't even want to see before I can see what I want. Same thing happened with teh Grammys or something. Wanted to watch Velvet Revolver and I think they were up like last which pissed me off because by the time they did come on I had lost interest in the show and went to bed. Sat through Christina Alguilera and Gwen Stefani for nothing. >_>

When the record industry decided that they needed to put some trendy pop culture up his ass. Plus he actually thought he could sing.

I don't remember if I watched VR on there or not. I've sat through a lot of horrible acts on these things to see the ones I want, mostly because they're on tv so rarely. Like when Billy performed on New Years.
Man that Billy thing pissed me off. Lisa Marie Presley is horrible, and she didn't even look interested. In that ugly black wedding dress, just standing there with that doped up look on her face, and not even singing the same melody. Argh. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
