Four years ago, to the day, America was rocked by a devious terrorist attack. Two of New Yorks financial buildings (The World Trade Center Buildings) were hit by passenger airlines. Please take this day to remember the lives that were lost and the sudden coming together of a country.

Never forget September 11th, 2001.

That day was burned not only in everyone's head, but in their hearts too. Expecially those who had family members that didn't come home from work. But it brought us all thogether I suppose, but now crazy things are going on. More symptoms of the world, getting closer and closer to the end.

That's right. Never forget September 11, 2001!

probably will be forgotten in about 50 years or so,I'm sorry to say. by that time, it will be about as comparable as Pearl Harbor, which only gets mentioned in memorials and such.

It won't matter to me if fifty years pass. Or even if a hundred years pass- I can't forget that day. I knew some of the people who died there...

That will be for people who had no one close die in it at all or for those who don't give a damn. But it's burned really deep down for those who lost some of their loved ones.

It is sad. No one expected it, and no one wanted to accept that it happened. I remember sitting in my fourth grade class, watching the news about it all day, and having my best friend cry because she lost her favorite uncle inside there. Plus, Jinx lives in New York, so she had to deal with the tragic of that.

Funny thing is, we all bonded on 9/11 because we had someone to blame for the attacks, we could point the finger and blame.

On 9/1, when the hurricane hit. No one bonded, everyone was pointing the finger at everyone but themselves, or mother nature for that matter.

We're falling apart, bit by bit from the past four years. I just hope the memory of 9/11 will get people to remember at this time, and every other distaster that goes on, we must bond and try to help each other.

Much love to the hurricane victims, and of course, the victim's of 9/11, two of the biggest distasters recorded in the U.S.

No disrespect to the victims of 9/11, but millions of people die of AIDS every day. How come you never hear about that?

It's probably because AIDs is somewhat preventable, not only that but there's people trying to find a cure for AIDs. There was no cure for 9/11/01. Plus, there's so many of them, you aren't going to hear them annoucing on the news that another million of people died from AIDs everyday. I mean, it'd be like saying millions of babies were born today. People know. Not everyone, but most people know. Plus, they have an AIDs day to raise money for the victims of AIDs.

This is the biggest Hallmark wannabe thread here *sniff

It's beautiful.

I did my minute silence for 'y'all'...

Cause I was eating. Mum says not to talk with my mouth full.

Anyway yeah 4 years.. I remember when I found out about it.. Just got home from school and had a laugh on the bus.. but yeah.. the mood died when I got in and my sister said "America's blowing up"..

I was like wtf, cool.. Sat and watched CNN.

My mum was the manager, at the time, of a large phone firm and my bro had to stay on the phone to her, updating her on what was happening.

I remember having stayed up all night long, thinking things like 'is this really happening?' and 'why does there have to be a war during my time? Why now?'
I used to think war was just something you read about in text or history books, but 9/11 changed that for me.

But even though the war has lost a lot of lives, we've gained some stuff too:

Because this is an English-run forum, you hear about it a lot. but in the rest of the world, people pretty much forgot about it already.

Uhm, maybe it was because it was a huge terrorist attack and AIDs is a disease that you know you risk getting when you have unprotected sex or recieve blood? Hm, maybe THAT'S why. It doesn't have everything to do with them being self centered, but I think it's still important. AIDs is a world wide epidemic, people die of it everyday. However, the attack on 9/11 was something completely unexpected by our country. I do sort of take offense to what you've said. I don't know anyone directly that died in the attack on 9/11, but it still scares me that something like that could happen in my country.

As for the war, it's still bull s**t, but I won't go into that here.

EDIT: I'm sorry if I don't find a national devastation funny.

Dude, thats not cool. :(

Kate's right about this. AIDS is something that people can like prevent but the 9/11 attack was unexpected and took the lives of like thousands of people at once. And they couldn't prevent that no matter what.

Its very devestating what happened that day. Sad I still remember getting so worried about what place would get attacked next and for the first time feeling like I could actually die that day. And then seeing all those people die on TV was terrible. What a horrible way to go. :(

So honestly, what is so wrong about paying our respects for these poor souls? Call it self centered if you want. I call it human decency. . . . .
