I'm not trying to compare the quality of the two songs here, but rather the effect they had on each band.
Most people know the Beatles for "Yesterday" a beautiful yet overplayed song that is completely unrepresentative of them as a group. It features the lead singer solo with just an acoustic guitar and a string set.
Bascially the same thing for Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).

What do you guys think?

If I ever hear Time Of Your Life again, it'll be too soon.

Most bands have a single that doesn't represent them at all. Such is the curse of hit singles, it's almost always the ones that are nothing like the rest of the music. So many bands have had hit ballads, when they only wrote one or two to begin with. Then you get people who are unfamiliar with the band thinking those sappy pieces of crap are what all the music is like.

It sucks, but at least it pays some bills for those who only get one remotely popular song.

when I was young I like the f**king stupid two minute and 30 seconds long song, but I was a stupid kid that didn;t know music, now I laugh at it whenever I hear it, stupid solo, the lead singer looks like s**t.

As for the lead singer of the beatles single...never saw it....but It will always be better than time of your life. I know that for sure.

I love both songs, I s'pose, even if Time of Your Life IS grossly overplayed. But that song has an emotional attachment for me, so I'll always like it.
