I browsed through the current issue of PSM magazine at the store today.
I could swear, out of about 100 pages in the issue, fifty of them were ads!
Isn't that a bit extreme? I realize advertising raises some revenue for the magazine company, but I really did not like seeing an advertisement on every leaf.
Who else can relate? Pick a gaming magazine issue you've read and describe how much of it was magazine content, and how much was advertisements. Figures, I want to see figures. Flip through it and count the pages. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Grabbed an old issue of Gamesmaster. 119 pages, 28 of them were adverts. nOt as bad as some of the other ones, but still a bit much. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Play magazine, September 2005 issue:
Total pages (including cover and inserts): 102
Total pages of ads (half-page or larger, plus inserts and back cover): 30
Though, out of the other 72 pages, about 50 of them were no interest to me, so that made the ads seem to stick out even more. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

True. No one wants to see a magazine with nearly 50% ad's.
I was in the store and was flicking through magazines, I can't remember the name of the magazine, this one had more than one ad advertising the same game. I think it was a like a Sonic one <_< I don't see why you need more than one ad in a magazine about one game. _________________ http://www.fanart-central.net/profile-Kes.php- Profile.

Tips & Tricks, October 2005 issue (cover showing the Incredible Hulk, Mario, and Darkwatch)
Total pages (including cover and one insert): 104
Total ad pages: 18
If you ignore the insert, that's the same ratio as the last issue... nice. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

All THose Ads Are Ridiculious, I pay 10 to get a Year of PSM. But I only get about 10 of PS2 News and 2 Mags worth of adds Adds _________________ |

PSM Magazine, November 2005 (...wtf? "Display until October 4"? it's still September! ) - cover picture of the PS3
Total pages (including cover and inserts): 114
Total ad pages (including inserts, and a 4-page article about King Kong which was really an advertisement in disguise): 60.
PSM joins EGM with the highest percentage of ads in its magazine... this time on the topside of 50% rather than the underside. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
