I just wanted to hear everyone's opinions on re-gifting. I am against it for the most part, because basically you're insulting the person who gave you the gift (like thier gift isn't good enough) and the person you're giving the gift to (you're not good enough for a new present, I'll give you my rejects).
In some situations it might be okay, like if you needed something for a business associate and you didn't have time to go shoping, but in general I don't like it.
What do you think? _________________ |

I hate gifts, I prefer money.
If I had to give gifts to a person, I'd re-gift, _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

My family has a Christmas tradition with our cousin's family.
We have one of those talking fish trophies that we send back and forth on birthdays/holidays.

Depends. If someone is just lazy and re-gifts something they don't want, regardless of whether the person would like it or not, that's tacky.
But like if you're given something you already have or that just doesn't fit you and you know someone else who would really like it, that's ok. Like if you get a CD player and already have one but know someone else who really wants a new one, no harm in giving it to them. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. I don't really like to re-gift. Mostly because I have been re-gifted a lot of times by like people who like are really obvious about it and they can like afford to to get me like a new gift but they choose not to. <_< I don't mean to sound mean but like after I spend like twenty dollars on this person, I guess I expect more than like a three dollar poster that was like hanging in the guy's room last week..and when its a poster of something I'm totally not interested in then like that just makes it like worse. :(
But like fallen said, if its like when you have clothes that might've shrunk in the wash and can't fit you anymore but like someone else might appreciate them, then its cool to re-gift. I did that like last week actually when I accidently shrunk three of my band shirts. I gave them to a friend's little sister and she actually looks really cute in them. I'm happy that like I made her happy so thats like one of the few times re-gifting came in handy. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I get so much lotion and shower gel (which I never use), so I just give it all to my sister without an occasion because she loves that stuff. I have to agree with Fallen on that CD player senario. Some gifts are things that everyone could use while others might already have it. _________________ |

I think the worst instance of regifting I ever experienced (well, besides the one girl who flat out TOLD me before I'd even opened it that I probably wouldn't like it and it was something her grandma had given her  ) was a little collection of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion in a mesh bag with this horrible smell. Looked like it came from a hotel. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

you should not re gift things when your going to a party that you got that thing from someone who is at that party. you'll get caught trust me.
only do that if you really don't like it or don't want to give it back to the store or that person. but it does save time. just make sure its not a piece of junk. people hate pieces of junk. _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |
