Genres: Horror, Mystery, Psychological, Supernatural
Plot Summary: Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there's a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo. Age Rating: PG-13 (disturbing elements, violence, and some sexual content)
I recently finished watching this series and I absolutely adored it. Like all animes though, it has its ups and downs. One of the downsides is it requires the viewer to be very patient. The series starts out great, but it gets repetitive until the 8th episode (so you have to bear with it a little). But I assure you, after that, it progresses really well.
The animation is okay. They use quite a number of stock animations, but all in all it's good. The music is beautiful though. The melodies for the background music are just exceptional.

So, has anybody else seen this show? Or am I the only weirdo who watches shows like these? (Lol, don't answer that. ) Anyway, discuss! |

I liked the 2nd episode too. The Maigo no Koneko-chan song was just utterly creepy (not that the stalker was any less creepy; he was creepy as hell too). My favorite episode would be the 12th episode: the teacher and his student. I think that their story (albeit a bit twisted and tragic) was sweet.
I heard they're planning a 2nd season. If they do proceed with it, I hope they include background stories about Ai's associates. And it wouldn't hurt that they stray away from the "person-A-has-grudge-pulls-string-and-sends-person-B-to-hell" format. It's annoyingly repetitive, but I'll be okay with it as long as they make it more interesting or something. |

Well, Ichimoku Ren did hint that Ai picked them up from Hell. So, I guess the three of them were one of the lucky ones to escape Hell because of Ai. Hmmm. . .yeah, I hope they elaborate more on that.
And as for the mysterious woman, I don't know. I'm hoping that they'll have a story for her too on the 2nd season. At first I thought she was also the spider (you know, that freaky one with the 3 eyes on it's back), but then when the spider spoke it had a male voice. Well. . .the spider could be her pet for all we know, lol. |

By the way, they made a manga adaptation from the anime. It's being serialized in Nakayoshi. The art style for Ai is different in the manga and this disappoints me because I really like the anime art style of Ai. |

Oh, I know this one. I *love* the anime. Is there a manga too? Don't tell me what happens though, I'm only on the 4th episode. ^_^ |
