(to Fayore)
I love Makai Kingdom. I agree with you, I'm not incredibly fond of Pram's voice, but I love her character. I mean, she took over her dad's Netherworld when she was two and she blows Valvoga to kingdom come (though you have to feel sorry for Micky when she does that). Phantom Brave was...not...that...good...but...oh well. Makai Kingdom made up for it.
I don't know if I like Disgaea better than Makai Kingdom, but definitely at least as much. Disgaea has better main characters in Laharl, Etna, and Flonne, but the overall cast of characters in Makai Kingdom is better, I think. And Disgaea 2 is supposed to be coming out sometime in...February, I think?
By the way (trying to return the favor you gave me,) Disgaea is hard to find, but if there's a GameStop near you, that's where my friend and I found copies for us ^.^ GameStop is usually a good place to look for just about anything--the one where I live actually has Rhapsody, the first game in the Disgaea etc. series O.O And if you can find La Pucelle, which came just before Disgaea, that's a pretty good game as well. La Pucelle isn't as good as Disgaea or Makai Kingdom, but the main character, Prier, makes up for it ^o^ She's hysterical.
And failing GameStop, I guess the same thing you said to me--Internet --.--
Good luck in all your video game searches, Fayore! _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

I don't think Canada has GameStop. All we have is EB. DX I'd use the internet (I have before, lmao) but I'm lacking in the credit card department. D:
I've played Rhapsody. Cute game, although I kinda wish the ost that came with it had some of the Japanese tracks. :<
o_o! Shh, I haven't finished Makai Kingdom yet. xDDD
I liked Phantom Brave (I even bought a radio drama cd for it! xD). The ending was rather unexpected, although it's not like I didn't like it... Plus, the song lyrics matched the situation so well. Depressing. D: Although Marone does get a little annoying sometimes... Ash was cool. I've long since memorized his little battle preamble. xD NIS America failed so hard at that part. "For her sake, I'll not fail!!" Seriously, wtf. I bet even someone who doesn't know Japanese could figure out that he's saying something completely different. Especially since everyone else had their attack/skill translated fine.
Which confused me a little bit. :< You remember when Walnut said that only those who have skill of Scarlet the Brave could seal what's-his-face (in the translations, anyway)? Well, that's just the thing. Ash DOES have the skill; the japanese speech for his battle thing says "jaaku naru mono ni uchikatsu chikara wo! suiryuu no (chikara), ekaruraato!" Very roughly translated, "[Grant me] the power to defeat those who become evil! Power of the water dragon, carlate!"
carlate = french for "scarlet"
... ._.;;; You know part of the story's been altered a bit, when...
DX At least Makai Kingdom doesn't seem to be as bad as that particular hole in Phantom Brave, though. So far. :< Although they still made Pram a little more rude and haughty in the English version. :< _________________

Rhapsody in and of itself wasn't great, but I did like the story, and the characters were pretty funny ^.^ It was fun seeing a "rescue the prince" instead of a "rescue the princess" for once. And Gao's whole, "Oops, guys, I think Marjoly's dead. I guess her age finally caught up to her..." when Marjoly first sees Ferdinand was really funny... ^o^
And... O.O NO GAMESTOP?!?! I feel for you...
And...
They messed that up in Phantom Brave, huh? Hmm...I thought something weird was going on with that. Time to break out the torches and form an angry mob again...
If I see any sites with La Pucelle or Disgaea for sale, I'll let you know. |

NO GAMESTOP?! The horror. *shudders* It's where I get all the best games. Unfortunately all the good games are old games that I've never heard of until recently.
Makai Kingdom...I've heard of that game. Never played it though. Would you recommend it?
Also, I really love Xenogears. I had the game for the longest time, also Der Wille zur Macht, the for Xenosaga. Deus is a pain. Crazy psycopatic machine, or entiety, or whatever it is! That game has my mind running around in circles trying to make sense of everything. Xenogears does come before Xenosaga, which might make sense to play it first then...
But my all time favorite game is Star Ocean. The first one was really fun, the second one rocked (although they still used those 64-bit sprites) but the gameplay was awesome. The third had better graphics but the storyline fails in comparison to the first and second. I'm glad they still kept some of the feature, like the Private Action and alternate endings.
Another game that (I almost love it as much as Star Ocean) is Valkyrie Profile. It's only the best, 2D action filled RPG ever in exsistence. I demand a sequal!!!
And, just a random note to anyone here interested in literature and games, have you noticed in Valkyrie Profile, .hack, and now in the new Radiata Stories, many of the part encompass peices from the Ring to Nibelung. (I mean Valkyrie from Radiata Stories has an attack named after it!) The Ring of Nibelung is a German play that's absolutely amazing. You have to read the book.
In .hack, Balmung's name is taken from it, also the Spear of Wontan (which is in the novel).
Ok, sorry. I ranted much more than I meant to. Does anyone actually understand a single word I said. (I don't expect anyone to really...) |

I may or may not get slapped for this one, but I don't care, I'll shout my love from the rooftops: Shenmue. Aww yeah.
Great characters that you actually cared about (and many you didn't) an interesting plot, it made manual labour seem fun. Oh, and who can forget the joys of sneaking home late every night to avoid getting shouted at?
*sniff* reminds me of home ^_^ |

Wasn't Seig (one of the characters mentioned in liminality) something to do with The Ring of Nibelung a well? _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Siegfried? Indeed, he was one of the heroes, I believe. It's been a long time since I last looked at the Nibelungenlied. xD
Er, yes, he was the hero, and he owned a sword called "Balmung". 8D He used Balmung to kill the dragon, Fafnir.
I love Norse mythology. <3 _________________

Xenogears is my favorite video game. A friend let me borrow it in fifth grade, and I had never been so drawn into a game before. The storyline was so interesting that I just had to continue. I enjoyed the battle system too, though I don't know why XD
Wild Arms is another one of my favorites. It got me hooked on RPGs ^_^ |

Well...My favourite games are the Jak series, but Jak 3 is my favourite.
It was my first ps2 game, and I simply loved it. Lush graphics, hilarious storyline, and fairly good gameplay. _________________ I came

Oh yeah, in the DVD that comes with the games (.hack//liminatlity) there's a character named Seigfried (in The World of course) that was researching something when he fell into a coma.
One of the volty attacks in Radiata Storeis is called Nibelung Valesti. Coincidence much?
Valkyrie was one of the gods in The Ring ot Nibelung, right? Or was she the person who got trapped in the ring of fire...
I forget... |

I like alot of games, but to name them all would take too long
But one of my favorites would have to be the Guilty Gear series... I prefer to play Guilty Gear XX: Reload#, but I cannot wait till Slash comes out |

I could probably be considered a Final Fantasy whore. 6-11 all have my heart, but 8 is definitely my favorite. I think I might be alone on this but I just really enjoyed everything about 8. My boyfriend's favorite has and always will be 7. Yes, I do love 7 and I have played them all sequentially. I've heard a lot of criticism towards 8 though, and I have to admit at the start of the game I did not enjoy it at all. Once I really got into it though, I completely fell in love with it. Just my style, I suppose.
Addiction wise, I'm hooked on Final Fantasy XI. It consumes me...
Super Mario RPG also has a special place in my little gaming heart simply because it was the first RPG I ever played. It really is a great game too. From there, my love of RPGs just blossomed. XD
But yes, Final Fantasy VIII is my all time favorite. |

I've heard tonnes of criticism towarts VIII, as well. It made me kinda irritated because I thought that it certainly wasn't as bad as they say. Personally, I think they were all comparing it to VII, and when it didn't turn out "as good", they just shat all over it.
I mean, I played VIII before VII, andd I thought it was amazingly fun, and had a great storyline and everything. :/
My favourite FF is still Tactics, though. The storyline is so involved. :0
:0
I guess I'm repeating the fact that my favourite series is the Summon Night ones. A/SRPG/DATING SIM. 8D <3 Voice acting is top notch, storyline cute~ :3 _________________

Better than VII in every area, except VII had Sephiroth. VIIIs plot was mindblowingly awesome though. _________________

See, I know someone who thinks the storyline is lame. But then again, he couldn't even beat any of the Final Fantasy games, so that's probably says a lot. |
