Hey guys!
As a huge Japan fan (movies, music, dramas, clothing, animes, etc) I was VERY disappointed to see no had a J-Idol n.n lol
So, out of all the different stars in Japan, who's your #1?
For me? It's a tie between
BoA (a little SKorean teen who's made it big in both SK and the land of the rising sun with her dancey beats and beautiful voice)
and
Shibasaki Kou aka RUI n.n A big Japanese dorama star that recently appeared in 2003's Yomigaeri, making her debut as RUI a woooooooonderful singer! n.n It's my fav movie of all time.
How abot you? |

Yeeeeeeeeeees n.n SMAP is awesome! I love that "Lalala Love Song" song and "Lion Heart"
When I went to Japan, there was one song by them that was EVERYWHERE (I never did get the name) T_T but they're great, Love them.
Hear about V6? they're sorta like a younger version lol (or at least that's how my friends described them). A lot of the guys from V6 are best friends with members of SMAP n.n I thought that was kinda funny |

Wow! Someone knows SMAP! The only reason I knew SMAP is because Furuhata, in his awesome detective show, arrested them for murder and I think the real members of SMAP were on the show. (The weird thing is they actually did murder a guy on the show and they went to jail.)
I haven't heard of V6. If the RIAA didn't already pull the plug, I would consider finding some V6. |

OH cool! n.n
Yeah I found out about SMAP because their theme song was on some food-eating contest show....I dunno, I forgot it was a couple years ago.
Ever hear of "Yomigaeri" (ressurection) it's a movie that came out last year. REALLY awesome. My fav actress is in it. But the main character is one of the guys from SMAP. He uh...came off kinda fruity lol but it was a really cool movie
highly recommend it n.n *beam* |

Japanese food show? Maybe... Iron Chef? I love that show, it's the only cooking show that actually rocks.
I'm basically trapped in American imported Japanese stuff so I haven't heard of Yomigaeri. I don't think I've seen any real Japanese media for a couple of years. Boy, I feel locked in. |

LOl no not iron chef.
It was some TV show about this kid who competes in these food eating contests.
Every week it was some new opponent with a different style of food (the style of food fit the competator) It was really funny cuz they were kinda spoofing it and made it really corny-ly serious n.n
Meh, I'm an American too. I live near San Francisco which has "Japan Town" (kinda like China town...except for the obvious difference)
The Kinokunia mall has lots of video and music stores. It's a lot of fun n.n i love to go and watch the music videos play and stuff (BTW-the "Hikari" [simple and clean in Japanese] is really odd. Just Hikki washing dishes from a single angel the entire time.....yeah..)
But I saw Yomigaeri on the plane to Japan last April. It had just been taken out of theatres and I was dying in July when it came out ( T.T kinda mad at myself cuz I got the cheap version off of Ebay and didn't get all the special features....)
But it's really great n.n You can get it for like $10 off of ebay if you want. |

Cool! I live in California too but in Sacto. I went to Japan town a few times but is the kinokunia mall on Gerry street?
Yeah, with the cheaper and more expensive versions of Japanese content, I ran into something like that too. I bought my sister the complete sessions of Cowboy Bebop on Amazon and found out that there is another version that's better. She says she's saving up to buy the better version. She's also looking for a book of artwork from the show, I can't remember what it is called though... Oh well.
Does the NHK channel still show in San Francisco? That's where I saw all of my Japanese shows. |

OH awesome!
Yeah, it's on Gerry and Laguna n.n there are two malls, but I usually only go in the Kinokunia cuz it's got more.
You should check it out.
You can watch some Japanese shows and dramas on channel 8 on Saturday and Sunday nights n.n I'm hooked on this one called "Sakura"
It's about this Japanese girl who's a third generation American from Hawaii. she's teaching English for a year in japan and you get to see all her "wild American antics" lol
I actually hate Sakura herself, but the rest of the characters are really cool n.n lol
there's also "Hey! Hey! Hey!" on Sunday nights at 11. it's a music show where they interview and show performances of popular Japanese stars. It's not subtitled though. |

Next time I'm In San Fran, I'm going to check out channel 8.
Anyways, with those Wild American antics, are those like Japanese presumptions of American stuff. I remember seeing a funny show on American ways to do stuff on NHK and there were people using mayonaise to shampoo their hair. There was also somebody drying water out of salad by swinging the salad over their head in a pillow case. Yeah, that's us Americans |

LALALA Love Song is actually by Toshinobu Kubota, if we're talking about the same song. SMAP does a lot of covers :3 Annnd sadly to say, they kind of suck at singing, but I love them nonetheless. They're kickass entertainers, heh, if the SMAP show is available for watching over there. And Lion Heart <3 was my cell phone ringtone for a while. x3
My favourite artists... aa, too many. x3 CUNE, Matsu Takako, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Charcoal Filter, Hirose Kohmi, CHEMISTRY, Heartsdales, Ketsumeishi, BUMP OF CHICKEN... A lot, heh.
This may sound very unmodest, but if anyone has questions about Asian music, I'm very into that stuff and have been for as long as I can remember, heh. Living in Seoul and Tokyo has given me very varied backgrounds on music. :]
*sigh* I hate BoA... x3 |

Meh, I could care less if people don't like BoA. Your opinion and no one's forcing anyone to listen to anything n.n
You've been to Seoul? How is is over there? I've been thinking of studying Korean after Japanese and kinda wanted to go there, but I know virtually nothing about S. Korea n.n;;;;
Either I have a cover, or I'm getting my music mixed up (I've got way too many songs on my computer) I also had a problem with labeling a little while back. A bunch of my Aikawa Nanase songs were under Ayumi Hamasaki T.T;;; And some Yamaguchi Kappei under Seki Tomokazu (anime soundtrack songs... n.n;;;)
o.o I've got a question for you. I was watching "Hey Hey Hey!" and there was this song calle "Koi" but I couldn't read the guy's name (stupid Kanji....) It's a really nice accoustic song. The guy's voice is kinda....uh....bad. but at the same time it fits with the song. He was this sorta middle-aged guy (shaved head, glasses)
If you know who I'm talking about I'd REALLY appreciate it! n.n I really want to get his CD (he played 3 songs I really liked!)
Thanks for any/all help! |

The Pillows and Yokko Kano. I don't listen to much Japenese music beyond the stuff in anime . My main reason for that is because it's really hard to find. Darn Pacific Ocean blocking the japenese intertainment I crave! |
