I'd be like eddie or angus if my guitar was fixed long ago. Sad My fat brother ate the strings! We never had time to save my poor guitar. Sad
No, he didn't really eat them, he just took 'em off. Grr! i kiel him if he do it again!

I would be playing a fender squire (sp)

Anyways, get a book that helps out alot, you learn the basics, the book is your friend, go to like barns & noble or whatnot. Unless, get eddie, that would be most tyumphant. xD yeah right. Follow books on guitar playing.

Assuming you already know how to play, learn chord progressions and scales.

A lot of self taught musicians don't, but writing is infinitely easier if you know the scales already.

 Tips like what?

Don't suck, how's that? Laughing

There's not much anyone can tell you, except to learn the basics. Everyone has their own process for writing. Some have a single little piece in their head and write a whole song around that. Others have the words first. Other have the basic melody. Just depends on how it works for you, try it all.

are you looking for gigs right now? be persistent with that stuff, because there are probably hundreds of other garage bands out there you are competing with.

i'm not sure what tips you want either. Ummm, try different picking styles. I have my own, and people think it's weird but i'm more comfortable with it, plus it makes a smoother sound when strumming.

ummm, but what did you want tips with?

its not just a guitar theres a keyboard and a drumset in the back... either he just "seems" to play and there is a background song, or he plays half of the guitar and the rest is background...

i play guitar and sing for my band, if you need help with composing i would right out a few songs and decide which one u like best. once u got that one down, expirament a bit with it, like adding scales, or muting strings and such. my band has at least 8 songs, and they all went through the same process, we have performed a few times, it was great!! just practice practice practice, and you'll improve alot!!!! fast to!!!

I've been playing guitar for over 6 years now. I started accoustic and got to play electric guitar later on.
Firstly you have to be able to play guitar pretty well.
(That's not just a guitar player Emmy that's JerryC he's a pro. He plays his guitar part with the drums and bassguitar on a midi programm Avy) I don't know how long you've been playing Avy but don't expect to be that good very soon.

I've been in several bands. Mostly cover bands but I'm now in a band called Sustain. We only play songs we right ourselves. And it's hard to make your own song in a sec. It helps when you're with friends who play an instrument, you can give eachother tips and suggestion.

I write my parts by just fidling around on my guitar. I sometimes come up with a riff I really like and then further extend.

I use a programm called Guitar Pro 4 wich really comes in handy when composing. Yes it is midi and it takes a while to get used to but once you get the hang of it, it's really good to make your own songs on so you can practice with your band etc.

The only tip I've got left is: PRACTICE!!! LIKE HELL!!!
Hope you find these tips somewhat usefull, cause there's not much else to say ^_^
