The title says it. Have you ever drawn from model? Like looking from real model or other pic? If you have, feel free to post some of your pics if you want to. Tell us also what was purpose of it (Practise? Finding out how one detail goes? Or just for fun?).
I have drawn from model at the beginning of my years of drawing. That was for developing my skills. I don't have any pics now, but i send them later. _________________ |

I don't think any of my pics in my gallery are model based except the arm postition in some that I modeled in a mirror. :/ But I do doodle my classmates for practice sometimes. _________________ FAC |

I usually pose the way I want a character to pose, take a photo, then draw from that. _________________ |

By model, do you mean any real person, or an actual model?
If you mean any real person, 90% of my gallery is that.
If you mean model model, then for 6 hours every Tuesday.

gesture studies, 2 minutes

gesture, 3 minutes

gesture warmups in sketchbook, 1 minute each
Don't have any of the longer poses back yet. 4 hours ones n' such.
Purpose: Anatomy practice, building the figure from the inside out (as opposed to countours), getting the movement of a pose, looking at nekkid people
From any person...meh, take your pick.
From a screencap. Purpose: Tribute to Robert Knepper. 'Cause I love him so...
From a photos Purpose: Tribute to Anthony Hopkins. 'Cause I also love him...
From a photo taken by the subject Purpose: Speed practice. But Pete ain't half bad, either...
The list goes on. Most of my ones from photos are of people I like. Don't really practice likeness anymore, it just sorta...happens. Now I try to do it faster. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I used not to draw from any reference... but I use references all the time nowadays. -_-

I sometimes pose, then draw.
But sometimes I go onto google image search and look for hard-to-draw things for reference, like kissing scenes(Please don't laugh, they're really difficult). |

I certainly don't do as much model drawing as Fallen (6 hours every Tuesday! ) but three times during the school year we have a model come in for an after school modeling session that lasts about 3 hours. Go read her post to see what we do, 'cause it's basically the same thing. We also had an assignment a while back where we had to do about 6 figure drawings, with the kids in the class modeling. (Clothed, of course.)
(I had to do it once . . . 0.0 It was so hard to sit still for 70 minutes!)
Other than that, I do use real people most of the time for my art now, especially art class assignments. I rarely use pictures I've found online or whatever. . . I either take them myself or use an actual person. _________________ 222.

6 hours is the minimum. If you want to have a hope in hell of not being torn a new asshole in the weekly crits of last week's work, you go to the 3-6 hour workshop outside of class and sit in on other people's classes, as well as doing your own independent practice. And that's one of seven classes a week. That's why people drop out before ever getting to declare their major the next year. Craaaaazy.
But I like drawing people and nekkidness, so it all works out. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

All I hear about are colleges on the east coast. I have heard of Otis (t'would be pretty sad if I hadn't), though we don't really get information on west coast colleges until Portfolio Days.
Looks like a nice school. _________________ 222.

Even though my style is heavy into comic book inking I still do stuff from models and real life.
forgotten
in this pic I dressed up in my veitnam outfit then took a picture of my self to draw. this was probly the hardest modle drawing I've done, because I had to take this little picture an enlarge it to 6 feet by 4 feet cause thats how big it is.
Dany wails on my friend
this one was a little different, while its kinda cartoony and funny looking me and my friends were all posed like this while a picture was taken. Then I drew it out in cartoon form and change one of my friends into danny phantom on his request. |
