I remember that show. Was pretty good, but I missed the first episode.
Apparently there's an older French series of the same story. It's supposed to be more gory, scarier and better than Kingdom Hospital. At least that's what my librarian told me. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Well, yes. But it was Danish.
"Riget" (Danish for "The Kingdom") was created by Lars Von Trier. Stephen King came across it while filming something else and liked it...thought it would make a good US TV show. He made quite a few changes to it too!
It is a very interesting show, I must give it that- although I liked Stephen King's version better.
You can actually purchase it on DVD in the USA now...and they also have the VHS.
There are two seasons of Riget, and the first leaves even more questions un answered as Stephen King did in his version.
I only saw the one.
If you want to see the first episode of Kingdom Hospital they do have it on DVD. You can either buy the full series in a four disc box set, or they also have three different DVD's of it sold separatly...
1) The Beginning
2) Making the Rounds
3) Post Mortem
I suggest, if you're going to actually purchase the DVD's to get the full box set. I don't know what Sony was thinking by making the three disc (except to maybe raise more interest in the show) But each DVD sells for around $20 and there are no extra features and apparently the picture is TV quality. Bit of a rip. You buy all three DVD's and end up spending the same amount for them as you would for the box set- probably more since the box set usually sells from around 35-40 dollars. In comparison to buying each DVD separate at $20 which leaves you paying around $60 dollars...with less to offer than the box set. Get the idea? |
