I have recently discovered the flexibility that comes with using a multiple number of different medias in one piece. You can really obtain some amazing results when mixing charcoal with paint, using ink, cut paper, photograph, pencil, all in one piece. Here is a nice example. This is a self portrait I did recently. I started with pencil and charcoal. I then added paint with chips of wood to give it texture in areas. I then took a Xerox of myself, and laid it down over matte medium. This pulled the ink off the paper, and when I (carefully) scrubbed it off with a wet towel, the image was left behind. Then more paint, and a sharpie finished it. I then Xeroxed the whole thing to give it a nice grainy look. You can see the final piece below.

Anyone else here have mixed media pieces they'd like to share? Or techniques they use? _________________
