Don't Buy Xbox 360

I hear there's going to be a recall very soon on the first-edition xbox 360s, I don't know if it's true, but I got it from a friend in school that's never been wrong about this stuff before... does anyone know anything else?

I haven't heard anything about a recall yet. The only thing I have heard were that there were a few units with some problems with them, which is fairly normal considering every product has a couple bad ones in the batch. It was just blown way out of proportion with a lot of the brodcasts about them. Besides everyone who got a defective unit had thiers replaced.

Product recalls are nothing new; did you ever hear about the recall on certain PS2 power adaptors? S'true.

Like DG-sama said, the problem is with the media coverage of the whole thing -- vastly overblown. It's as if 50% of current news articles about the 360 are discussing a problem [i]that happens with less than 1% of the total 360 owners out there[/i].

It doesn't help that some guy is suing Microsoft for "knowingly rushing a defective product to market" and $$$$$$$$$$.... go ahead, look it up.

I know.

It's been brodcasted that all 360's are getting recalled due to numerous complaints about the 360 shutting off in the middle of a game.
No more are being sold until all the bugs are fixed.

so that means that they're holding all 360s until January 31st...

That's all I know/heard...

I've been only told "don't buy it, they suck!" There are a shitload of xbox fans in my school, and the one who told me this is a huge xbox fan. So yeah, there are some problems with it after all. I can be waiting next year to buy one, by then most problems should be fixed and all would operate well, just an dumb estimate. That's one thing off my birthday list so my father can breathe easier. One less thing to worry about.

One of my friends entered this 10miunte conest & someone in our town won an XBox 360.

Come to find out it was his busdriver! Laughing

But that's beyond the point there. There are a lot of people obsession over the 360. I don't want it, but wow, there have been a lot of complaints around our town about it sutting down.

Old news: The 360 does not have full (true) backwards compatibility with original XBox titles, because the original XBox uses an nVidia graphics chipset whereas the 360 uses a custom-made ATI chipset.

The 360 has a built-in emulator for playing original XBox games, but to do so it also needs to download patches from XBox Live for each XBox game you wish to play on it.

Heaven forbid you'd need two seperate machines to run two seperate generations of games. I, for one, am far too lazy to turn off my 360 and then turn on a [i]whole 'nother system![/i] What were they thinking? For shame Microsoft, for shame. Grr!

My sister said that she heard that most of the Xbox 360s under Christmas trees this year won't even work. I have never been and Xbox fan and I hope I never become one.

I find it kinda pointless to get one in the first place since there is only a limited amount of games that have come out for it. IF I was a Xbox fan I would wait for more games to come out before even thinking about buying a 360. Besides you would end up just playing the games ment for the plane old xbox. If you wanted one just to do something like that it would be alot cheaper to get the original especially if some of the xbox games don't work on the 360... <_<

Really.Where did you guys get these information?Are guys at Nintendo are trying to sabotage Microsoft or something?No offense.But until we have a solid evidence or a picture of the XBOX 360 exploding or something,There is no way Microsoft is gonna pull back their shipments.I meant,they spent years doing extensive test and research on the 360.They can't be that desperate to sent us a defective product just so to stay ahead of the competetion can't they?

Look at the big picture. LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of XBox 360's are having problems.

Remember the dead pixels issue on the PSP? That affected a similar number.

Fact is, no manufacturing processes, even modern, sophisticated ones, are 100.0% perfect. There will ALWAYS be a unit that comes out defective-on-arrival.

And, frankly, when that defect constitutes only one out of every 10,000 produced, that means you have [b]9,999[/b] other units which have no problems at all.

The issue is not the defects, but the fact that they get far disproportionately more media attention (and lawsuits Razz

) then they by rights should.

Of course, on the other hand, when you produce a million units, even a 0.1% rate of defective units means 10,000 units, and 10,000 unhappy campers is plenty enough for a class-action lawsuit (or some kind of legal challenge).

All too easy to reach out & sue somebody these days, it seems.
