[b]Plot Summary:[/b] They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi". ([i]taken from AnimeNewsNetwork.com[/i])

It came out October of 2005. It is adapted from a manga by Yuki Urushibara. I've watched four episodes so far and I must say I am very pleased. The animation is breathtaking, detailed and fantastic. I also find the storyline very intriguing and fascinating. I'm willing to see more and I'm a bit disappointed that the series might be ending at 26 episodes. Oh well, I'm hoping it'll have a good, clear ending (not one of those rushed up ones that leave you hanging and saying "huh?").

WTF, I was just about to make a thread about it.

One of my picture is officially the first Mushishi "fanart" on this site.

I just watched about 6 episodes, I love them. Very compelling story, but not recommended for about 98% of FAC'ers. It's episodic and *Wow* has a lot of magical realism element, which you don't see a lot in Anime.

@ Brianhjh: Lol, sorry about that.XD

I agree that there isn't a great number of anime out there like Mushishi, which makes it all the more precious and worthy of praise. :wub: I just hope the animation won't get crappier on the succeeding episodes. Part of my soul dies whenever an anime starts out gorgeous and then ends hideously.

Wow, I love the art style, and everything is so clean. Detail to background and everything, and the character designs are typical anime style. Very nice. I wanna see it now. X3

Like the art style, haven't gotten a chance to read through the plot/summary. Though I like what I see so far, if I can, I might try to get my hands on one of the mangas. Though it'll be hard to find something like that.

It's one of my favorites. I really like the story telling, and the backgrounds are beautiful. The second episode was a bit creepy...

The fourth episode creeped me out even more. I don't think I'd let anyone touch my pillow now after watching that episode. Furthermore, seeing the suffering he endured, my curiosity regarding seeing the future just about died.

Although, I do like how each episode makes me ponder more about the world around me. It's one of the many reasons I adore Mushishi.

I read it. More great chapters, although they're a little depressing and little scary. I wonder if there's going to be a main plot? Or if it's just going to be a "collection" of a bunch of folklore-ish type stories. :0

It probably won't ever have a main plot, considering that it doesn't really give much background info on Ginko except that he's a Mushishi. I don't really mind the one-story-per-episode style, but yeah, it'd be nice to know more about the main character and why exactly he does what he does.
