(I've never listened to Gun n Roses before... could be better for all I know. Eh)

I dunno why... I just love "Whisper"... it's such a strange song, I have no idea what it's about, lol.

Other than that, probably their re-make of "Thoughtless"

Amy Lee cannot sing. Or rather, she can sing in a very mediocre fashion, but her voice is polished and fixed digitally after the recording. It's not a secret, it's not even a very uncommon practice. A lot of artists sing a song or one verse a hundred times, and they piece it together word by word, the ones where they managed to hit the right notes. Then they adjust the levels and tones to sound better.

In some cases, and in the more..."honest" cases, this is just a matter of fixing the problem of never being able to make a recording that sounds identical to a person live. But in the case of Lee, it's practically a new voice. All those nice notes people drool over aren't hers. It's been a known fact since nearly their debut that she can't put out live the way it is on the album. A few times could be excused, but over and over people complain that she can't sing at all like it is on the album.

If you need to digitally fix your voice and are going to disappoint people who come to see you live, that's not a good frontman.

[b]uninventive lyrics,[/b]

It's the typical pseudo-goth writing full of angst and bad metaphors. If you relate to it, you're a bitchy teenager, and that's exactly what they're banking on. There's no meaning in the songs, not real meaning. If I hear one more person say "omg they are soooo deep!", I'll stab them.

"Deep" does not mean "the most serious song with the most overused dark cliches". A happy song can be just as deep as a sad one. Deep means the artist gave real, original insight into a topic. It's new ideas and a clear, original expression of those ideas. There's nothing new about Evanescence. They're the same, tired garbage in black eyeliner we've seen over and over.

Aside from the singing, the musicians are just as mediocre as she is. Bad rhythm section, guitarists fresh from the garage band, etc. etc. etc. Now, this wouldn't be such an issue if the writing was there, but it isn't.

And just because someone is going to say it [b]liking something does not make it good or skilled. It just means you like it, and no one cares what you like. The point is talent and skill, things that are completely separate from your personal tastes. "But I like them" is no argument for anything, please do not use it.[/b]

This is an open question. Tyler and I do not think the band "rocks". And we have just as much right to express that as you do to drool all over her.

And, I might add, fangirl threads endlessly raving about how much you like something are NOT appreciated or tolerated very well here. Have some reasons and evidence BEYOND "I like them", or give it a rest.

First of all, it's opinion. There is an "N" in there. Secondly, you don't thhink it's music? Lesse, Drums, vocals, guitar, bass, from an album that has sold more than 14 million copies... sounds like music to me! :woot:

Mabye you don't like it, due to finding it offensive, or because I disagree with you, but that song is from an album which has more than likely sold more copies to date than any Evanescence album ever will, and was also voted in as the 42nd greatest album of all time, so you really can talk down to it. Wink

High winey voice thats clearly DG'd*, Emo-teeny booper lyrics that stink, People in her "band" can't play half as good as even the standered teeny-booper band. Poor mix of Hip-hip and Emo and Linkin Park style (No idea what to call linkin park...).

In other words I agree with Fallen, shes fake and her "band" sucks.

Find a real band... like I donoow... Guns N' Roses!

I'm not saying [b]they're[/b] good but I'm not saying they're bad either.
I do have their CD "Fallen" But I got that when I was a dumb ass prick that liked "everything".
Anyways, Amy Lee's voice is very beautiful, she has a nice singing voice, but the music and the lyrics suck. Amy is justa nother hot topic brat in one sort of way I guess, but not much of a brat, he boyfriend sucks cock though (hint hint)
The music is like any other of todays suckiest bands, abusing their guitars playing heavy and awfull lnes, and when Amy screems, oh boy! <_<
At least she's not as bad as the cunt from Arch enemy.

I guess I'm saying that they suck, but I still like Amy's voice, when she's not screaming, that's pretty much it, but some songs I still think are alright.

I thought the Evanescence garbage died out last year. Almost every person who has tried to start a thread about them posts a few months later saying "I don't like them anymore", which just further proves what a flavor of the moment phase they are.

Although...shoving Gn'R down people's throats ain't any way to lure someone to the dark side. Sprinkle a line of heroin and let them find their own way. Cool

Not that it has much to do with anything, but Lee's photos are doctored, plus her pound of makeup. I just find it interesting 'cause her voice is fake, too. So she's just a digital puppet of their label. What a role model, eh?
