I am currently hiding my french dictionary to get out of doing homework (assigned to me by my dad... . . . .) by saying I left it in school. I hope i hid it well enough...

For being late:
"My watch stopped. Sorry."

For not doing something:
"I was busy."
(That one is actually true 99% of the time.)

I once hadn't handed in a report or something, but I told the professor she had indeed recieved it and perhaps she had lost it. A couple of days later she apologised to me for losing it. Laughing

I've done that before, except the teacher knew she lost it and wouldn't admit it. Even the other teachers didn't like her because she was so weird.

Another excuse for not doing something:
"I was sleepy." (That one is actually true as well.)

The one that wroks every time: "Uh...I left it at home."
Providing a location always works well to, like saying that you just left it on the coffee table, or something of the like.

Also, the classic "My dog ate it" excuse works well, because no one will think you're really so stupid that you would fake it as an excuse. That worked for me on more than one occasion.

Hmm, yeah, I forgot to do my English homework and I told my teacher that I had recently cleaned out my backpack and I forgot to put it back in...I think she only let me turn it in the next day because I am such a good student... Razz WTF?

I'm absent/sick a lot so I usually go "Uh.. I don't think I got the assignment, I probably wasn't there.." Works best with my math teacher, she never knows where anybody is.

I don't actually have to make excuses for not going to school. My mom will let me stay home if I want providing that I get all my missed work done. I've never taken her up on that offer, though.

Excuse for not turning in a written assignment on time:
"I typed it up all nice, but then my printer ran out of ink."

easiest way to get out of doing HW:

take paper, scribble on it so it looks like writing from far away, put it in the blender with a spoon of water, and chop it up. not enough to make paper-smoothie, just enough to chop it up. put it in a plastic bag. tell the teacher 'my dog ate it' and hold up the bag. Works every time Laughing or if you have a real dog, give it to the dog and let them chew on it ^_^

also, i have discovered that 'my (mom/dad/whatever) was out of town, and i had to stay at friends house and didn't have my textbook.' works, whether it be actually true or not. i have soooooooo many ways to get out of work...Rolling eyes

One time all of my books were stolen from my locker. When I couldn't turn in my assignments, no one thought that they were really stolen. Turns out my books were in the janitors closet. Why, I will never know.
One good excuse that usually works is "I had it done really well, but I accidentily left it in the car (or bus) this morning" Simple, but effective.

I guess these excuses all have to do with school work <_<

Easy one is the computer crashed, thus your paper was erased, and if you want extra time to really do it. Say it was sent off for repairs. etc etc

I use to say my printer broke, not out of ink but just flat out broke, and you know what. They accepted it, knowing very well it didn't, and i know they did, because i said it with that very bland, i don't care tone and look to myself.

Other than that, i don't tend to make excuses. In fact, i think i only did that 5 times in total. All the other times i just out right said "didn't do it, didn't care. I had other things to do" etc etc.

And excuses for parents? Never, cause i don't get caught doing s**t, and the trvial stuff they ask you "why wasn't the dishes cleaned!?" i just tell them "Because they weren't MY dishes. I was gone all day remember. <_<

Same here. <_< We try the best we can to have it at all, so why can't the teachers cut us a little slack?
I had an idiotic teacher this year. I swear she was mental. She'd be late to class everyday (first period class) and yell at us if we were in her room when she wasn't even if another teacher unlocked the door for us. Once she had a sub give us worksheets to do in class, but he forgot to give us one until a minute before the bell rang, so I took it home to do it although my teacher's writen instructions said to have everything turned in before the end of class whether it was done or not. I turned it in the next day, my excuse being that it didn't make any sense to turn in a blank page in class when I could use it as practice at home. She gave me a zero for not turning it in the day before, but she gave the rest of the class a 100% for turning in unattempted work on time. Gawd I hate her.

The printer thing is the one that bothers me. Always the same answer "well you should have printed it a day early so you'd have had time to buy more ink" or "you should have saved it on a disk and taken it to the library to print" (even though they yell at you for printing things like that) or "you should have handwritten it in pen then". Ugh. Especially when you think you have enough ink but it runs out halfway through. . . . .
