Art Faq

I think it would be good if we had a pinned thread or an entire board dedicated to answering Art questions, since we're getting too many doubles threads.

questions such as: How do I get rid of blue lines in the sketch?

- Where can I buy art materials?

- What's the difference between Photoshop CS and 7?

- My sketchbook says it's 80lb, what does this mean?

- etc. etc.

Sounds like good fodder for the "Techniques & Media", or "Art Help" areas.

gee, people's suggestions have been taking 2 months to be done but Mine goes through in oh, 3 hours? :rolleyes:

That's not what I meant.

I now think there should be an entire board dedicated to Art FAQ as a sub-forum for the General art or in the art section itself.

Art FAQ should work like the Site FAQ, one thread for general questions that is pinned, and continously asked, and normal threads that is dedicated to ONE ASPECT of the art tool. Threads about photoshop, markers, Watercolor mediums, Paintbrushes... whatever.

If there is going to be one thread for everything, it's gonna be tiresome to read through photoshop gibberish when you're wondering which paper goes well with pastels.

I'm not sure if this can be a moderator based, obviously, very few has good amount of working knowledge in everything.

If it was moderator based only strata could do it (IMHO) but I think that he has enough job with the rest of the stuff he does, on the forum AND the main site.

Strata can make a thread about colored pencils and related stuff, but this is different from the Site Faq, if you're unfamiliar with the medium, how would you know what to add and what to ignore?

This more or less ties in with the request made few months ago from CstDenis that the user post tutorials and stuff, instead, it's FAQ.

I remember the request from denis to ask for tutorials, but do you think that talented artists are willing to give all the ins and outs of their style of work, spend hours drawing and writing, to get no credit from the community?
At least I wouldn't do it.

Although it was a good idea.
