I just noticed they don't have a topic! :o
Ok, so they're first CD is incredible. Great music, awesome lyrics, very 80's hair metal-y. So, being the addicted little whore that I am, I went out and bought another of their CDs, used.
The CD was Called Subhuman Race. Thought it was a bad sign, but picked it up anyway.
Question is, what happened? It sounds like almost all modern heavy metal. If anyone else knows Skid Row, are thier second and third CDs awful too? _________________

mmm beautiful, talented group of men. Crazy as hell, but pretty and talented.
Baz, Rachel Bolan, Snake Sabo, Phil Varone.... mm mm good.
Anyway, what happened is they were not a hair band, nor an 80s band really. They jumped in at the tail end of the movement's peak, even though it dragged on until about '92, but aside from the first album...not very 80s.
However, Slave To The Grind ['91] is most awesome. Quicksand Jesus, In a Darkened Room, Wasted Time, very cool, though very different from the first album. Slightly less pop metal 80s.
B-Side Ourselves is just five songs, if you can even find it.
Baz, however, was in a full on hair band before Skid Row, no matter how strongly he denies being any part of it all. If you want 80s sound, they pretty much ditched it all after the first album. Slave To The Grind is still good. Don't bother with Thickskin, either. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

First time I heard them was in one of Fallen's T-Bag videos. Guess I've got her to thank.
Good stuff, but I've only got one of their albums. The self-titled one. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Youth Gone Wild. Mmhm. Everything's better with Theo.
Baz is one of the only people who can make that extremely high range ballsy.
A little taste of Slave To The Grind (streaming, so no big downloads)
Monkey Business - sorta their stage between 80s and the more standard metal sound of the late 80s. Fuckin' cool.
In a Darkened Room - Almost my favorite SR song singing-wise. <3 Baz.
Quicksand Jesus
Wasted Time
An extremely vocal-driven album. There's lots more Monkey Business-esque songs on there, that site just happens to have mostly the ballad-ish ones. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

It also means whenever I hear that song T-Bag's going through my head doing that slinky walk of his.
And just listening to Monkey Business. Bloody brilliant. ^_^ _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Haha, welcome to my world. Nearly every song I've used/seen has tainted my mind with cocky struts and licking. Delightful. Youth Gone Wild may still be my favorite vid (not counting the one I didn't make to "Shoop", which is just too funny).
