I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a topic mentioning this movie already.

Honestly, I haven't seen the movie yet but I can't escape it no matter where I go. Everything and everyone seems to be saying "Go see Brokeback Mountain! Its so moving and emotional. I don't even care about the gay butt sex because this movie is so good that I can overlook it!" Is this movie really that good? :huh:

From what my boyfriend told me, even Howard Stern approves of this movie and coming from him, I guess thats saying something..turning like a guy who is usually pubically not into homosexual topics of any kind and now raving about a gay cowboy movie.

But anyways, approve? Disapprove? Whats your opinion about this so-called "Riveting and timeless movie?"

Bah, it wasn't as good as everyone says it is... it didn't even make me cry. Which is a very easy thing to do, for a movie, especially for such a movie. (Heck, I bawled my eyes out when I saw Star Wars 3. >.> people looked at me funny.)

Anyway, ehm, yeah. It was a good movie, but all you REALLY need to see is the theatrical trailer... unless it is the hottbuttsecks that you want to see.

One thing I must note is that it made me wear a cowboy hat for a week afterwards. Only two events in my life have done this; Brokeback Mountain and Half-Blood Prince coming out. (well, not a cowboy hat in that case, but my black wizard cape. Don't look at me like that.) So I guess it must have been pretty signifigant. I just don't really think that it was that awesome of a movie right now because I can't really remember any of it except for the Mexican man-prostitutes.

Haha. They were awesome. {/incoherent ramble.}

There's a DVD quality copy of it floating around on Limewire if you want it... no need to wait for the DVD to come out.

I dunno, I really enjoyed it.... The very last scene does manage to get me all misty-eyed.

The way that I look at it, it wasn't so much a movie about gay cowboys as a movie about a man who was afraid to take a gamble on the life he could have had and suffered for it, that just happened to have gay cowboys in it.

It made me respect Heath Ledger as a character actor that much more... Used to be I could I think of him and all that came to mind was the token romantic comedy protagonist type, but he pulled off the strong, silent, emotionally-constipated blue collar countryboy character quite well.

Saw it. It wasn't great, it wasn't even good. I'm not just saying that cuz it's about gay cowboys either. Can't say much about it without giving it away, but I suggest you wait for it to come out on dvd.

It was pretty good. It wasn't zomg flippin' AWESOME, but it was good. It had excellent filming. It didn't have much going for it plot-wise, but then again, I guess not many romance films do.

I cried in the end. Not a whole lot, but it was tear-worthy for me.

Then again, I also cried during E.T. when I watched it last year, so this may not say much.

I couldn't even get through the first twenty minutes of it. Not because it was super horrible or anything but it was just very boring. Seriously, whats the big hype about this? The gay sex wasn't even that good. I didn't even know it was sex until I asked my boyfriend why the two guys were fighting and he said "They're not fighting" so I said "Yeah but he's like pinning him down and like getting rough and" and then I saw one of the cowboys ram into the other cowboy from behind and I got the idea.

Not very romantic. :mellow:

It was just boring to me. I couldn't get into the characters or find like an emotional connection that I can usually get from movies. Ah well, kudos to people who did like it and thought the sex was oh so hot I guess.
