I was washing the dishes tonight, and suddenly an odd realization occurred to me. Doctors in yaoi manga are always evil. Is it just me, or is that weird? Think about it...
1) Dr. Muraki in Descendants of Darkness (aka Yami no Matsuei)
2) Dr. Aoshino in Earthian
3) The doctor in Sukisho (name escapes me, but he was a wack job, I believe...)
Furthermore, you get all of the doctors who tell one character that the other is going to die, the doctor in Ours Everlasting who tries to forbid them to have sex, the doctor in Banana Fish after what's-his-name gets gang-raped, and the doctors who support all of these other evil doctors...
Actually, doctors are usually pretty evil in anime. At the very least, they show up as harbingers of doom. Is it just me, or is that slightly odd? A doctor's job is to save lives, yet they usually seem to be used to show death. They're either powerful villains or people who, as soon as they show up, you go, "Ohp, yep, s/ he's kicked the bucket."
Weird much? Does anybody else have evidence of evil doctors, or even better, of the opposite? _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

no, silly Ian, the mangakas and animators are just jealous of doctors because they make so much more money and are so much happier than them. <3 _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Maybe the creators are scared of needles? XD
Hospitals and doctors' offices are normally associated with pain. True that you're already in pain (possibly) when you arrive, but sometimes the means of healing add to it. Plus doctors have a reputation of being egotistical (doesn't make it true, of course). And you gotta wonder about a guy who has all those women working for him. (Okay, so men can be nurses, too). Not to mention their hand-writing... ;P _________________ DA Gallery: http://katwarrior.deviantart.com

It's the pain thing, I guess. Doctors have the knowledge and the power to condemn you to something terrible. I mean, they can say, "Congratulations, you have AIDS!" and all sorts of stuff that basically condemns you to death. It's in human nature to hate anything that is bad news. We're a happy folk. :)
Look at Pinky in the Brain (throw me a bone, I don't do anime DX). They were lab mice changed under an evil doctor's experimentation. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

Well, you have to be pretty egotistical to be a doctor... You need a lot of confidence to perform any kind of surgery on a person, especially knowing that their life is in your hands the whole time. Perhaps that's why? They're constantly dealing with life and death. It makes sense to me that a person's sense of self/reality can be warped from years of scarring experiences and/or shattered confidence.... Take Muraki for example! Wasn't he looking for some type of immortality because he witnessed so many die and thus became aware of his own fragile existence? He was pretty messed up... o_o |

SPOILERS!!
Well, if you can count Seishiro from Tokyo Babylon. He's not exactly a doctor; he's actually a vet; but still, he's got that whole white lab coat/glasses thing going on. That is, until he takes of the glasses and tries to kill Subaru . . . ;; Poor guy. And right after Subaru-kun admitted his feeling for Sei-san! Well, to himself I mean. Eh . . . I've got a grudge against Seishiro, for tormenting poor Subaru-kun and killing Hokuto. ;; Sorry, ignore me, I'm not trying to rant, it just comes out. ^_^;; |

Nanami-sensei from Sukisyo.
Not actually evil. Quite the opposite, rahter. Stereotypical uke in a relationship, if that means anything to you. 8D
And as soon as I remember that dude from Silver Chaos, I'll tell you... Owaite, BL gaem. :B _________________
