The fact I haven't had cable for months means I'll watch anything and everything that doesn't completely suck. And I've been watching a whole lot of Prison Break on FOX. The previews made it look terrible, but since tv on Mondays is pretty awful, I gave it a chance from the beginning. And it's grown on me like herpes.

It beats most of the other shows on [broadcast] tv, and the characters aren't half bad. I have a sick love for T-bag. Uneasy Something about the villain that is always so much more appealing than the good guys, but Michael's a pretty damn good hero too. And Abruzzi. Really don't like Lincoln, but...meh.

Only downside is the plot is much more suited to a mini series. Too long to be a proper movie, but it needs a beginning middle and end. I have a horrible feeling they're going to stretch this out far more than it should be, to the point it's boring. How many seasons can a show last before they fuckin' break out already. There's that two week time limit going, but two weeks could last four years on a tv show.

If they do that, I'll be sad. It's interesting for now, but I don't want to see it for four seasons. Just get on with it. And I can't say I care for the outside plot with the government conspiracy and whatnot, but that's probably just because I don't like the character of Lincoln, thus just don't care. But yes.

Prison break.

Am I the only one watching it because everyone else has cable and can watch better things? :(

(Wentworth Miller [Michael] ain't bad lookin' for a guy with so little hair. I'd hit it. Marshall Allman [LJ] too.)

They have profiles of all the characters on the website that appear to be updated as each show airs to adjust to the plot. Spiffy. Poor Cherry, hanging himself and all. Nice pictures they have, though.

I'm gonna guess this is like Rock Star, and I'm the only sad person stuck watching it. Laughing

I tried looking up another forum, but all the fans are giggly morons. So I'm left calling my mother after every show to discuss the brilliance that is T-bag and help her keep all the twists straight. If someone out there is watching this, talk dammit. Grr!

I liked Abruzzi tonight. Mob bosses make me happy. A single word from T-bag, though.

If they put off the second half until May instead of moving it to a different night...I'll disown FOX again. Morons, they're getting ratings again and are gonna pull the show for six months. Brilliant.

Anyway...probably talkin' to myself. Too late to tell anyone to start watching it, you'll be lost. I'll sit by myself and watch my dirty prisoners with no one to talk about it with. :(

I think...I may buy the DVD this summer. Surprised

I'm always taking a nap when it's on or I'm watching something else. I should watch it, I'm so bored of watching the stuff I am, stuff on comady central, and 50% of the stuff on there sucks all cocks. Grr!

Looked a tad cool in the preveiws, I was planning on watching it when it first was on, ever. But I'm guessing I forgot. I should put a posted stamp on my head to remind me to check it out.

Indeed. I'd try to catch you up so you could watch it next week, but...it's a rather complicated storyline with lots of characters.

Basic idea without all the little conflicts:

Michael - former architectural engineer, helped design the prison, his brother [Lincoln] was framed for murder and is on death row, so Michael fakes a bank robbery to be put in the prison with him and break him out. He gets the blueprints of the prison tattooed on his body as a design that only he understands.

Lincoln - Michael's brother, has roughly ten days left to live at this point, framed for murdering the Vice President's brother.

Abruzzi - former mob boss, in for life, is helping Michael escape with his connections and privelages in return for leaving with him

Sucre - Michael's first roommate, escaping with Michael to see his girlfriend/fiance

T-Bag - Repeat rapist/murderer, scum of the prison but one of the most dangerous and powerful. Always has a bitch following him around, preys on the young new inmates. Drove his last one to suicide. Found out about the plan and now demands to come along.

LJ - Lincoln's son, being chased by the government (who framed Lincoln and are now trying to get his family)

Sara - Nurse at the prison, supposed to be Michael's "love interest", but that storyline sucks.

At this point, the storyline is at this point - Michael, Lincoln, Abruzzi, Sucre, T-Bag, and a new black inmate who discovered the plan are working in Prison Industries to rebuild the guards' break room. They're digging a hole through the floor into a pipe that will lead them to the outside. LJ is hiding on the outside in a cabin and has just been found by a hit man hired by the Vice President, who is behind the framing.

So much more has happened, but that's the set up for next week. Previews look good. Good luck keeping all that straight, though. Sad Pity you forgot to watch. These next few episodes should be pretty good regardless, though, just because they're scheduled to break out by the last episode on the 28th. :)

I'm looking forward to see the next episode then. All I need to do is remind myself...

Very Happy

Good stuff.

It's a shame you've missed all the other scenes, though. Not 'cause they're overly important, but 'cause they were cool/funny. The race riot in the beginning. Surprised And then the Cell Block riot T-Bag starts later. Surprised Throat cutting fun.

After the 28th, they're either gonna switch nights/times or push the second half back until May. <_< The dynamic of the show's gonna be completely different after they've escaped, but I don't wanna wait 6 months to see what happens.

Riots are teh shit. I'll be kinda sad when the plot completely changes, but I guess Abruzzi can only shove broken light bulbs in so many people's eyes, and T-Bag can only molest so many new cell mates before it gets old.

If they get out, they can go on killing sprees. W00t!

Interesting. If you have a fast enough connection, most of the old episodes are probably available to download by now. The show has developed quite the little fangirl population. But they are an hour long (two hour premier) and would be huge files.

I don't know, it took me 2 hours to download a game I have...
how long would it take for just one episode?

Completely depends on where you downloaded it from. If it was a good quality file, probably a horribly long time. A bit lesser quality with a good connection....would probably take me about a half hour on my cable connection. I'm gonna look into it eventually 'cause the DVD of the first season is "rumored" by FOX to be out sometime this summer (after they possibly play the second half of the episodes in May . . . . ), and that's a long time off.

I forgot the toe cutting. Surprised Within the first couple episodes, before Abruzzi agrees to work together with Michael, he cuts off two of Michael's toes with hedge clippers. Laughing See what you've been missing? lolz

two toes? Holy god I've been missing so much. It maybe take an hour or a half hour on my computer if I were to download the episodes.

Yes. Which has kinda been bugging me because the entire course of the show has taken place over two weeks. And he has his toes cut off in the beginning and then pretty much walks, runs, and crawls through the prison walls fine right after that. Yeah, having two toes cut off doesn't hurt at all.

At least they referenced it again last night. It was bothering me that it had just been forgotten about. Nice, though, what better cliff hanger than being held down with toes in hedge clippers? Surprised

Well him walking, running, or crawling good without two toes is fine with me. No damage you say, so...

They showed it him getting his toes cut off? Did it look painful? Razz

Oh damn, that was good. *brain melting*

Some of the best one liners so far.

*digging through the floor* "You tellin' me there's a hole at Fox River you don't wanna get in?" - black inmate to T-Bag. And T-Bag's song. Laughing

Gettin' so good. I already knew T-Bag was at risk for extermination next week, as proven by the previews, but...I still have faith he'll survive. Sad A show's no good without a villain. Abruzzi has endeared himself to the audience too much to be a villain, even though he will be after they get out. Get rid of the new black guy and keep Theodore, dammit. Grr!

Next week will be quite interesting. I'ma buy a blank tape and get the repeat of this week and next week's. I'm tired of Michael/Sara, though. It feels like watching a stupid fanfic that's going nowhere and is painfully forced. Sad Mediocre acting, terrible writing. But it's FOX, and they require a romance. Bleh.

Abruzzi calling T-Bag "Sergeant Sodomy" = W00t!

Since no one else watches, I'll recap to myself. S'ok. Nothin' new.

I'd give it a chance, next monday because i am just now seeing this thread. Prison movies rock, but on television... i dont know. Is it better than Oz? i never liked Oz, the parts i seen did NOT make me feel like I was in a prison watching this happen. These guys don't look too scary, tho.

Next week may be a good week to watch. Although you will be completely lost unless you go back and read every episode's summary, but it should be good plot-wise.

I've never seen Oz, don't get the channel. Prison Break...well, it'll make you feel like it's set in prison, but not an accurate one. There's a lot of liberties taken with the way it's set up vs how a real prison would be run. Lincoln is on death row but is allowed to work PI with big hand tools and stuff, unattended. And they keep putting young new inmates in T-Bag's cell even though he's a known rapist/pedophile/murderer of them. So...if you pay attention to those things, it'll bother you. Michael's also a genius, so there's a bit of that "can make a radio out of a coconut" thing. But a genius in a believable way, I suppose.

It's good, and I've never been too hung up on believability in those areas. Probably would have been a bit more "in prison"-ish earlier on, vs now, 'cause in the beginning it was him against everyone. Now he's made friends, of sorts. Of course they won't be his friends once they're out, but for now there's mutual understanding.

There's also the healthy conspiracy plot, since it's the government responsible for Lincoln being framed, we're just not sure how or why yet.

EDIT: And I've been thinking, trying to figure out how T-Bag is gonna stay. 'Cause he has to. Grr! And if he brings somethin' to the table Michael needs, he'll take him. The new black guy is worthless, fuck him. Theodore is far more interesting.

Hell, watching next week at least you should get to see some...interesting scenes like in the beginning. Abruzzi ordered Michael's toes cut off. God knows what he'll try to do to poor T-Bag. Try to start watching at 8 instead of 9 and catch this week's repeat they play before it. It'll give more of a setup for the escape plan. Smile

Dominic Purcell? He has a really small part in this so far, even though the plot revolves around him. Laughing Mostly because you can only show so much of him in a little cell.

I dunno, he plays the character of Lincoln well, it's just the character I'm not overly fond of. He purposefully contrasts the more...over the top characters (mob boss, "latin gang banger", white trash rapist, etc.), but something about him is just...dull. But then, that could very well be because he hasn't done much but sit in his cell.

But if he reminds you of your brother, then you can idenify with Michael in it. Laughing

Here's a list of episodes with a little summary of each one. You can click on cast and be up to speed with who each character is too, I suppose.

Excuse my absence.
Yes, next week, we will discover the one who get's booted out. Too bad for the nurse, she feels hurt. That's the way I like it! xD Actually I don't care. Since this was my first episode, some things I didn't understand. Who were those three people at the cabin or whatever, who were in the cluthes of that one asshole for a night. And what was their purpose with the plan to break out at the prison?

I didn;'t see some parts because of the Eddie Guerreo tribut and such.

Your right fallen, T-bag is cool xD I should kill that one rapper kid. Grr! He sucks at slang, and it's annoying, but pretty good at stealing, I assume. I'm still excited for next week.
Who were those three people at the cabin or whatever, who were in the cluthes of that one asshole for a night.
Phew, ok, gonna try and be brief. The young boy is Lincoln's son, LJ. His parents divorced and mother remarried (thus the blueberry pancakes thing Lincoln thinks about at the end). The woman is Veronica, Lincoln's ex girlfriend. She finds out what's happened to Lincoln and makes it her mission to prove he's innocent and get him off death row before it's too late. In the process, she meets the guy at a center that specializes in volunteering to help innocent people in prison. She's initially turned away, but he follows her and begins helping.

She starts digging in the case file and evidence, trying to find out who framed him. Because of that, two government agents are instructed to either stop her or kill her. Veronica and the man escape to that cabin, but when the agents go to get LJ, they shoot his mother (Lincoln's ex wife) and father, and he barely escapes. He finally makes it to the cabin through a text message from Veronica.

The guy going after them is an as yet unknown person hired by the vice president to take care of the mess the other two agents made (they failed to kill them). He's from some secret organization that is apparently above and beyond the government in power.
And what was their purpose with the plan to break out at the prison?
Nothing, really, they're working on trying to get Lincoln out the "right way". None of them are aware of the plan, although Veronica is pretty suspicious of why Michael got himself thrown in prison. But they're looking through the evidence and suspects, trying to find out who really killed the Vice President's brother and why Lincoln was framed for it.
I should kill that one rapper kid. mad.gif
Haha, T-Bag came damn close a couple weeks ago. That's Tweener, initially T-Bag's new "project". His cell mate before that, Cherry [Seth], couldn't take being his bitch and ended up killing himself. He asked Michael for help, but Michael wouldn't risk the plan. So then when the new bus of inmates comes in, Tweener shows up and tries to join the black inmates. There's heavy racial tension there (uh...duh. There was a race riot in the first few episodes W00t!), so they won't accept him, and the whites won't accept him 'cause he's trying to be black.

So T-Bag singles him out, offering "protection" from everyone else, and Tweener flips and ends up just pissing T-Bag off.

Tweener: "I ain't no homo!"
T-Bag: "You have a filthy mouth."
Tweener: "You come near me again, I'ma kill you."
T-Bag: "Haha, guess you're gonna have to kill me then."
***
--lights out, everyone in bed--
T-Bag: *singing* "Oh Tweener...I'ma comin' for ya, Tweener...are you ready, oh are you ready Tweeeeener..."
Tweener: *sobbing in his cell*

Good times. Anyway, Michael can't stand to see another little kid hurt, so he hits T-Bag in the knee with one of the tools and tells him to back off, n' dares him to tell about the plan [since T-Bag wants out as bad as anyone]. T-Bag agrees n' manages to limp past Tweener from then on and leave him alone. So he gets a bit of an ego.

I really....really hate Tweener. He grates on me so bad. At least Cherry was quiet. Buuuut, we won't have to deal with Tweener much longer. "And then there were 7". Michael, Lincoln, Abruzzi, Sucre, T-Bag, black guy, and Westmoreland make 7. And since the black guy doesn't even have a name, I'm expecting him to go.

Theodore Bagwell for teh win. Cool
