anime, in japan, means animation
manga, in japan, means comic books and graphic novels
In North America, those two things are animations and comic books that comes from Japan.
...that was easy. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Um...I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're saying, should anime aimed towards younger audiences, i.e. Tokyo MewMew, Pokemon, etc., be called anime, I believe the answer is yes. Japanese animation is anime, no matter which age group it's targetted at. _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

I think there the same thing, kidish anime and older youth/ adult anime. Just targeted for diffrent age groups. i'v bine drawing anime for 7-8 years and i'v only know what it is for...1 or 2 years... if that. anime is anime kidish or not! but that just what i think... |

I thought this thread was going to be about kids shows in Japan. Like Jyagainu. You know, shows that are for toddlers and stuff. [s]Jyagainu rocks and you know it! DX[/s] _________________

The anime on tv in north america is dummed down. Even if its not meant to be a kids anime they make it into one. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

I think so, didn't the dubbers edit alot of it so it would be suitable for kids? :\
Yes they should be called anime. They are all animation no matter what the age range :3 |

Of course they were. But because of 4Kids's dubbing powers, they are now kid shows in North America.

...There really wasn't much to mess up with Hamtaro, actually. It was already intended for children. But from what I saw, it got more older veiwers in the states. Intresting. :woot:
Tokyo Mew Mew already sucked anyway. :\ _________________ |

I remember watching that all the time. I still remember some of them. My favorites were Stan (with those weird music shaking things and slightly-flirty attitude with that french hamster chick, can't remember how to spell her name), Dozer (sleepy, and gives that best advice at the right time), that singing hamster with the hairdo and guitar (and pet pig), and others. _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.

A lot of people ask that for some odd reason & my answer is yes. Even though it may be a kids show, #1, it's still an anime & #2, it's dubbed! For example Digimon may turn out to be a kids show in America but trust me, they dubbed a lot of things from the origonal! ^_^ |

Digimon and pokemon were, and in my opinion still are, great shows. Besides, you haven't seen the japanese fandom that's still revolving around it. It's crazy. |
