Silent Hill Movie

So I found out about a year ago that they were making the video game series, Silent Hill, into a movie (they were actually going to do this after the first one, but turned the movie script into the second game instead)



Now that more info is out about the game ^^ I'm really excited (I love these games)
Pretty much, it's the first game.
They've even got the same characters (Harry Mason, Cybil, Dahlia, Alessa, etc)
BUT, it's got some big differences.
First off, Harry's wife, Rose, is still alive, and SHE'S why they go to Silent Hill (Cheryl's name is now Sharon).


Here's the synopsis I found:
"Rose cannot accept the knowledge that her daughter Sharon is dying of a fatal disease. Over the protests of her husband, she flees with her child, intending to take the girl to a faith healer. On the way, she ends up driving through a portal in reality, which takes her to the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill. Sharon disappears in Silent Hill, and Rose follows what she thinks is her daughter's silhouette all over town. It's soon clear the town is not like any place she's ever been. It's inhabited by a variety of creatures and a living darkness that descends and literally transforms everything it touches. The human inhabitants - the ones who are left - are trapped and fighting a losing battle against the Darkness. Joined by a cop named Cybil, who has been sent to bring her and Sharon back, Rose searches for her little girl while learning the history of Silent Hill and that Sharon is just a pawn in a larger game. To save her daughter, Rose makes a deal with a demon in the form of a little girl....."


If you like Horror movies, this one should be good (if it's anything like the games ^^ )

Watched the trailer. I might see the movie, but it doesn't seem anywhere near as frightening as the game. D:

[Squidman]

First time I watched that trailer I was like "yeah, looks like it's gonna be pretty cool all right...."



Then when I watched it again I noticed this:

It's one of the bad guys from the games, I think. Apparently they represent the inner-rage of the protagonist. Dunno how true that is though.

Yeah,i hate the pyramid head guy.He is the most scariest boss character in the game.Anyways,imho whenever someone wants make a movie based on a videogame, the storyline are bound to CHANGE(example:DOOM).This one is no exception but by the looks of it,this movie will just be one of those PG-13 horror movies.I like game's original storyline but ..... let's just hope this movie will retain the suspense and horror like those from the game itself,You know what I'm saying?

[Squidman]

I actually didn't find the game all that scary... I guess I'm just used to playing Resident Evil and running out of bullets due to my crappy aim. Now THAT'S scary. Silent Hill though... once I got that zombie clubbing stick I was in my element. I am the Queen of Zombie Genocide.


And yeah, Pyramid head is supposed to represent James inner rage or something like that... I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but it's something to do with his subconcious trying to punish him, or something along those lines.

Oh God, I [b]so [/b]want this movie to be good. I love the games, but the trailers and previews I have watched up to this point havent convinced me. I fear its going to rely too much on special effects and not enough on actual content and substance.

You can say that again.I really think that they should reconsider about making a movie based on a hit videogames.If they emphasize too much on the computer special effects, it would ironicly make the movie looks so cheap and B-grade.

BTW,I miss the good ol atmosphere of the original Silent Hill.The newer games seems to have lost the fog,the loud ringing radio and the siren wailings.
