Now, I would like to know how you define your "serious art" versus your "fun art". To me, fun art is drawing a Disney cartoon, because no matter how good it is, it's still not my own art. Fun art can but does not necesarily includ celebrity portraits (depends on how many portraits I've done of that person.)
Serious art includes still life and anything not drawn from a photograph. I'm still trying to work on that, because art universities generally don't love it when art is drawn from a photograph.

To me, fun art is anything I do that doesn't have a serious theme involved. It can also be the style that I use as well regardless of what the theme is. I could have stick people killing themselves very emoly but I would consider that fun art because of the simple style. Serious art is something that I put a lot of time into and in general gives off some sort of emotional vibe. Fan art is fun art regardless because even if it's serious it's not really something I completely made up from scratch. That's just for my art though.

I don't distinguish between the two 'cause I'm not much of a "sketch" person. I don't doodle (much). Or do silly little cartoons anymore. I guess when 20 hours have been put into a "celeb" portrait it's hard to call it non-serious, but it doesn't mean much to me other than it's fun to do. Same with some of the non-person-specific paintings and charcoal stuff. I make art 'cause it's fun, not much more to it than that.

And I wouldn't call my assignments (still lifes, design pieces, 6 hour life drawing poses, which I got my first flat out A last week *yay*, etc.) "serious art", just "boring art". Required art. I put a lot less effort into most of that than I do the stupid celeb stuff. Lolz. Which is bad, I know, given that I'm paying $25,000 to do these projects.

serious art, to me, is art that takes time and thought, it's art that i work hard to complete and not always doen in one sitting.

fun art is like a scribble on a note book, or a random doodle/ sketch to pass the time, or like a cartoony picture.

FUn art is somthing I wanna Draw. and serious art is somthing I have to draw, unless its somthing I wanna draw.

for example in art class we were given the task of drawing somthing that incorperates the color wheel. thats serious. then I desided I'm going to do a space shuttle with the color wheels as rocket exsost. and it turned out perty cool. I can't scan it cause its to big and is 70% oil pastell.

Serious art = all the stuff I make during artclass (drawing people, anatomy etc.)
Funny art = all the stuff I don't make during artclass (they're mostly comics anyways)

Fun Art= Anything I do that takes less than an hour. Not simply because I don't spend much time on it, but because I don't erase all the sketchy lines and go over it again and again with pencil. My fun art is mostly generic anime art: Huge eyes, big hair, what have you.

Serious Art= Anything I do that takes over 5 hours to do and has some sort of meaning or symbolism to it. Not many of these get done.

In-Between Art= This is what most of my art is. It usually has the 'serious art' quality but lacks any sort of meaning whatsoever. I think I've made 'fun art' quality work that has symbolism, but it's usually thrown away since it's low quality.

To me, fun art is serious art. All my art is serious, because I am trying to better myself in every attempt, but all art is fun, because it is what i love to do.

For me, fun art is anything that had a joke behind it at some point, and serious art is anything else.

I don't care much for serious art... I mean, good looking art that's pretty for the sake of pretty ismore or less dime a dozen. If something makes me laugh, THEN it takes on some originality.

Fun art is something I do just for the sake of having something to draw when I have nothing else to do. Example: doodling, quick sketches, and the like.

Serious art is something I dont' raw in one sitting. Some of my serious art may take 3 days, while others may take months or even years. I consult my dad and his fellow artists when I do these. My serious art include:concepts, portraits, etc.

Although I can still consider my serious art as fun art because I often have fun doing them. At least, that;s what I think.

Fun art is what I do by my on choice. This is mostly sketches and doodles of animals or something

Serious art is the stuff everyone else wants me to do and I don't want to. These usualy include projects that take me months to do. But most of the time they come out better then fun art.
