osnaps, A serious thread from me.

This is th thread for songs that have special emotional meanings to you. It doesn't really have to be a favorite song of yours, either. Just have a special meaning (such as a song played at graduation, or a song that brings back childhood memories, etc.)

Started this thread because I was shopping yesterday and the song "Foolish Games" by Jewel came on the radio. My mom used to play that song on her piano when I was a really little kid, and it just brought back all those memories of living in New Mexico in our little house in Fresnal Canyon.

So yeah, just stuff like that.

Have fun. :3

The Oscar Meyer Weiner Song!

When I was in JROTC, we had drill team runs every Friday at 6 am (what a pain in the ass <_< ) and the one cadence that we always did sing was that song.

1SG would always make the freshmen get up in front of the formation and make them sing it the loudest.

Right of initiation...you could say...but it was always funny as hell when a freshman didn't want to do it...he'd get his ass chewed out in front of everyone after the run, and then he'd have to do more elevated pushups than he could count.

 Man, those were great times...I'd do anything to have those times back...everything was so simple back then Sad

Bones and Joints by Finger Eleven. It has meaning but nothing I'd really like to get into at the moment.

They also played Good Riddance(Time of your Life) by Greenday at graduation. Back then I didn't care but now I sort of do. /nostalgia

I'm going to add another one...

"My Own Kind of Hat" by Merle Haggard (at least, our version was. I think it was originally sung by someone else, but I grew up with Merle). Really, everything on his old "best hits" tape has a special meaning to me, but this one especially. My dad and I would play this tape whenever we'd head up the pass to go hunting/camping/whatever. We still play it to this day, actually. :3

I love this song for two reasons:

The memories I have with it

and

The crazy double meanings and dirty puns that I never caught as a little child but do now. 8D

There's two kinds of brother, two kinds of lovers
Two kinds of babies to hold
There's two kinds of cherries, two kinds of fairies
Two kinds of mothers I'm told I'm told.

lolz

Hmmm...

Rock-wise, I'd have to say "Magnificent Seven" by the beloved Clash. We used to listen to that song all the time when we'd go up skiing, and it just brings back a lot of nice memories. Great lyrics also made me wub it.

Seriously, though? I'm a soundtrack freak, and "Nach Deutschland" by John Powell really has a special meaning to me....I bought the c.d. with this on it two years ago, and it was right about then that my life basically started falling apart. (Mom doing drugs, separation, the rafting camp from hell, ect...) This song just kept me together because it's very--sad. It has no real place. You can't listen to it in the car, you can't listen to it walking, it's the type of thing that makes you think. It was dark, too, and I looove dark music.

So, I dunno...It really just saved me from going crazy.

ALL MUSIC, FTW!!!

I have a few songs that are special to me. But mostly So Damn Lucky by Dave Matthews Band. My boyfriend, Phil, sings that song in my ear sometimes and it always sends the same shivers down my spine whenever he sings it.

I know, that one is very cliched but true nonetheless. :)

DARE by Gorillaz also holds a special place in my heart-area 'cuz its the first song I officially danced to at a party. It was even better that I didn't suck too. Very Happy

I would have to say Knockin on Heaven's Door, by Eric Claptan. Me and a couple of guys went up on stage and played it during grad. Of course, i'm the kick ass bass player. And it was like the best time i've ever had in my life. It was the one thing that really made me wanna be in a band one day.

Believe by Cher. I hate that song but my best friend loves it, back when we were a couple, he always played it really loud as he danced around like an idiot yet it was kinda cute. I remember that everytime I hear that damn song.

I tend to soundtrack my life. But I'll narrow it down.

Rain by Lynch Mob. Fuckin' sexy song. And I grew up in the rain (ghey Oregon). And me and my friend played it a million times on the way to the VR show for no apparent reason. S'got some lyrical meaning to me, but nothing anyone cares to read.

Black Eyed by Placebo. Completely emo reasons that I'll spare everyone from. I have a fucked up history with keeping friends. I've known some FAC people longer than most of my real life friends.

Showdown (Riot On Sunset) by LA Guns was the first song played officially inside the LA city limits. lolz Wasn't on purpose, just happened to come on. Cocked And Loaded still rules. Too bad we didn't pass over Sunset blvd until twenty minutes later, would've been cooler.
Why do you roll your eyes to that?
because it doesn't really have a special meaning, it just reminds me of my early days in life.
I just look at my dad's face and his finger pointing to me Smile

Good Riddance(Time of your Life)- Greenday, when I was little me and my mom would sing it together. (that and various Blink 182 songs)
I Caught Fire- The Used, my best friend moved a while back and that was her favourite song. So every time I hear it it makes me all sad.. :'(

I can't think of any more... but those two have the most impact.

Don't ask, but the theme to Shadow the hedgehog game makes me feel....Hyped Up. Just don't ask. I also like Phantom f the Opera songs as they remind me of the time my sis took me to see it on stage. That day was magical.. and now my sis doesn't live with me, when I listen to those songs they remind me of that day and I feel really happy!
