Kids/Pop Stars Doing Cover Songs

Personally I hate how they kill the songs no matter what genre the song is from. I'm not talking about American Idol considering they go for "Who's the best singer in this competition?"

Any kids doing covers, whether it's Kidz Bop (a compilation of songs by other artists), Devo 2.0 (who rip the songs of the original Devo) or that Girl Authority (compilation of songs that were originally done by female singers) group ruin the songs in my opinion like how Jessica Simpson is a nimrod when it comes to doing cover songs right or any pther pop star for that matter.

So, say your opinion, rant or just discuss.

Covers are usually OK but they are almost always never as good as the original

I cringed as I watched the "great singers" of AMerican Idol butcehr my favorite songs by Queen, one by one.

If the orginal artists sign over the rights to their songs then there really isn't much to do about it. Um..just don't listen to it then, thats all I can really say.

I mean come on, a lot of this bubblegum pop is intended for like eight year olds anyway. Thats like saying Barney songs suck because they "lack depth" and "overall talent."

I'm just wondering, why do the CDs when those kids could just have kid friendly karaoke CDs?

I saw a commercial for the Kidz Bop or whatever...oh man. I find it both hilarious and disturbing how they were happily dancing around singing "People killin', people dyin', children hurt and you hear them cryin'..."
I was like... WTF?

I think it's totally stupid. Kidz Bop, Devo 2.0, etc. What the hell is this garbage?

Cover songs are an easy way out for untalented singers to gain a hit and some level of notoriety. Any new band that breaks into the main stream with a cover song as their first single is doomed to failure. Rolling eyes

In fact, I think the only artist who has made any kind of success with cover songs is Manson. Have you seen his greatest hits album? About half the tracks are covers of other artists.
