I've never ever played a Zelda game. Always wanted to. I don't know which one to start with. _________________ I have magical female powers

Twilight Pricess is coming out soon and looks amazing so start there. Or if you want to start now I say Ocarina of Time. |

Kes (Kirsty) there was a topic like this a little while ago. it was mine but i set it up in the wrong place. i set it up in the rating part wen you rate games 1-10 or what ever. i set this one up here to replace it. |

I've had Twilight Princess reserved for just about one year now... lol it keeps getting pushed back....
I loves OoT, but personally I think I enjoyed Majora's Mask a tiny bit more. Both were great though. I also loved Links Awakening DX on the Game Boy Color. Ahh, the memories... |

They all have a very similar play type (as to be expected of Nintendo's franchises). I would like to play a Zelda game that was just about the adventure... less about all the side quests. Ocarina may be the best one... I'd like it if they managed to get that on the DS. Will twilight princess ever come out? And when it does will anyone care? I thought timing was key on that game. Apparently the developers don't. Now they're thinking of releasing it when the Revolution comes out. Which just seems really odd to me. |

That's probably why you don't like it. The 3 days limit becomes pretty much meaningless from that point on. Slow down time, then warp back to the beginning of the first day whenever you need to. In most cases, you'll have plenty of time to solve the next dungeon and/or complete a few quests here and there.
Majora's Mask ranks way up there on my list of favorite games. Some parts were simply eerie (am I the only one very, very crept out by the little masked guys just before fighting the final boss?), others were touching and the whole thing captured a sorrowful feel like no other game I've seen before or since. I still haven't solved all the masks, I'll have to borrow it again from my brother. |

They can't win about that.
If they keep the experience similar, people complain because it's similar.
If they change the experience, people complain it's not a "true" *insert franchise here* and that they just tacked on the well-known name to increase sales.
I'd rather have it the first way, really. That way I know right from the start how likely it is I'll enjoy or not the next iteration. |

I think best one was OoT among those. But when I get bored of it... well... I simply change game or go fishing in that. Or go some other temple to see what secrets it got left (like once in Fire temple saw Navi going up as green and i just wondered what in heck that means so checked it out with scarecrow song... whee there was nothing else than rupees in that chest! >.< ) _________________ |

Zelda is overrated. I am swamped by Zelda-ness everyday.. See, my brother is one of those people who go around with triforces sharpied onto their hands. >>;
It's a good series.. but I don't think it deserves all the hype it gets. I'd like to see a bit more character development/interaction.. not just spend half an hour walking to the next dungeon.. defeat enemies.. get special item.. get giant key.. kill boss.. repeat.
Travel times in Windwaker were atrocious. _________________ Go Yankees! |

yh i got really anoyed of the time it took to get from forsaken fortress to outset. i had enough time to go do some other stuff and just leave the control making him stay in the right direction. it became easier once i had the warping song. |

One of the things I loved most about Majora's Mask was the fact that it was creepy. When Link puts on a transformation mask, and you hear him screaming and his eyes are wide open, or like you said, those little mask wearing kids running around the field just before you fight Majora were just weird.
But my favorite part in the game was always thos last five minutes before the moon crashed. The sky is purple, the eerie music is playing, and all the people are freaking out. Also if you've ever seen any of the American commercials, they were equally as creepy. |

I fucking HATE Link's outfit. Yeah, it was snazzy back in the 80's, but the man is in desperate need of an update.
As for my favorite game? A Link to the Past. SNES goodness right there. _________________

it isnt THAT bad is it? besides they are jazzing it up a bit for twilight princess.
if you ask me the 3 hardest zelda games have to be; the first ever one (dam that was hard, there was no real story to it), zelda two adventure of link and majoras mask- that game is just plain hard! but the best zelda moments for me of all time, is when link jumps out of lon-lon ranch with epona (did you know epona is the name for the scotish god of horses or sumat like that?). Somthing bout the zelda games is that in most of 'em there is a pic of mario somwhere.
Wind waker, twoz a good game, but it lacked the zelda "kick", it needed more puzzles, and minish cap, i found the begging hard because i steped up to it as i would with ocarina of time, i was thinking outside the box when i needed to go back to basics, is it just me or are some of the zelda games loosing the potencial?
But even if they are twilight princess must surely redeem the zleda status as a hard puzzle "crack-a-code" game, no? _________________ |

I liked a lot about Ocarina of Time, but I wouldn't put it on my Greatest Games of All Time. There's high classic value in all the enemies, the bosses (Dark Link in particular), and the Ganon battle was spectacular. It was a bit long though, and took me awhile to free Epona.
I actually liked Majora's Mask a bit more. The 3-day limit felt a pain at first (seriously, I couldn't figure out what to do the first time, and ended up personally watching the moon crash into Termina. The melancholy music filling the town as it fell... that was the most emotionally depressing thing in a game I've felt in a long time), but as mentioned, if you play the Song of Time backwards, the clock slows down like fourfold, giving you plenty of time to go exploring.
Isn't it the scarecrow who tells you about playing the Song of Time backwards?
Zora Link looked a little odd, but it's hard to argue against swimming around in the deep waters of Termina's ocean.
Wind Waker was fun. Totally. I loved every bit of the graphics, awesome music, climactic boss battles, and that final showdown between Link/Tetra and Ganon felt like absolutely the best Zelda finale ever. Was it because Ganondorf was duel-wielding katanas, because of the water pouring in from around the walls, because the Red King asked the Triforce to utterly drown the old world of Hyrule, because Tetra was using the Light Arrows to nail Ganon? Or was it because the game was shorter than previous Zelda entries, and I didn't run out of steam before the end?
Twilight Princess's [s]release date[/s] -- excuse me, release period has been shifted again, this time much closer to the Revolution's launch time.
News is, Miyamoto himself mentioned that Twilight Princess will also be compatible (in some way) with the Revolution's remote controller.
A game that's compatible with the GameCube and the Revo's controller?
