Lego is traaaaaademarked. They'd sue you for creativity if you presented your works in non-lego exhibitions... for profit, etc. etc.
I don't think clay or metal has any trademark. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Well, it looks like art to me, and I've seen plenty of lego artists around who made some brilliant models. But I don't know if that applies to FAC. |

I see legos as a type of 3D pixel art, but not when you add all the little premade doodads like wheels, windows, people, etc...
I recently entered this in a lego competiton with 100 participants. We were given a bucket of legos, a green base, and a time limit. It's a bunch of hot air balloons, a windmill, and a lighthouse next to the shore with a boat.

Judging was based on creativity, originality, concept, and engineering. I bet it's the engineering of the floating balloons that got me first place. |

LEGO has made too many special shapes over the past ten years. The Bionicle line includes virtually zero standard pieces (even standard Technic pieces), and the Technic line doesn't use those old Lego-bricks-with-holes-in-them nearly as muh as they used to. I remember constructing a steam-engine locomotive using the battery case for the original Lego motor (the one that required 3 'C' size batteries and looked like a long cylinder), I fashioned something of a dragon out of Throwbots pieces, and still have a few models of little LEGO robots and one jetski-ship hanging around my room....
But . . . back on the subject. It's really hard to say whether LEGO could be considered an acceptable type of 'sculpture' for FAC purposes. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
