Who else id gonna act in kids' shows? Most children aren't great actors, and they're lousy entertainers to boot.

Besides, they're just entertaining kids. It's fun for them. Maybe they love children.

They barley teach you anything though......the most progress I made when I used to wacth these type of shows are:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i,j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z.
Not much. If kids want to learn tell them to watch game shows. They will learn things from that.

Remember how freaking long it takes to teach kids to count and recognize letters?

For some reason, I get the feeling that you are not in contact with kids very often, and that you're probably at the (mental) age of going "har har, kids are stupid", forgetting that not very long ago, you were at their level and enjoyed that kind of "stupid" entertainment.

Okay, I never said I wanted to kill anyone. Just wanted to make that clear.
However, I did discuss how I thought some kiddy shows, namely the Wiggles, were rather inane, and to me, mind-numbingly annoying.

I do remember when I was that age and I used to watch Sesame Street all the time. I even watched Barney. And I was a little kid, and I loved it. My two-year old cousin LOVES the wiggles, and if I were 2, I probably would be watching it right along with her.

I can easily see how shows like that appeal to kids that age. I don't know if she'll take any actual learning from it after she's done watching, but hey, she's two. She's got a long time to learn things. Let the kiddies enjoy themselves watching the Wiggles and the like.
As for me? Next time, I'll just bring earplugs and a good book.

Actually I don't think kids are stupid I think the actors are........
They could just make the shows animated and have the actors just do voices. And I was in contact with kids for about 24 hours a week for seven weeks until about a few months ago when my cousins moved. (When I started to want to kill the Wiggles) Now it's about 5 a week. And please the only thing I find funny about these type of shows is that I laughed so hard that I started crying (in Boobah's 5 minute fart scene) A friend used to annoy me everyday putting that on...............

You do realize there are even [i]more[/i] adults involved in animated shows than in live action shows, right? So it's not ok to act in a way that entertain kids, but it's ok to draw and voice stuff that entertain kids?

Of course, God forbid there are adults out there who genuinely [i]like[/i] entertaining kids.

ETA: That's not to say that you, as a grown-up, cannot watch these same show and be entertained for entirely different reasons. I know I've sat through a few episodes of Teletubbies for the sheer comical value of Dipsy stepping in the same puddle of Tubby-tustard 3 freaking times in a row. I've done the same with a few episodes of Passe-Partout, a kids' show from these parts (Quebec) that is widely regarded as the best kids TV show of my generation. I still recognize that everybody involved with these shows succeed at what they're doing: entertain kids. I'm not a kid, so I can enjoy the goofyness, just like I'd enjoy the goofyness of any grown-up playing with a kid "live" in front of me without passing any kind of judgement on this person's mental state.

Does it? I suppose it depends on where you live... Here, from what I've gathered of interviews and speaking to a few actors myself, the hours are long, the pay is sub-standard and you are forever labelled as "insert character name here"...

Yeah... One of my best friends back in Manitoba loved the Wiggles... I have a video on my computer somewhere of her singing that Hot Potato song...

Honestly, I don't know what The Wiggles is supposed to teach kids. I haven't watched it recently, (my youngest sibling is 6, heheh) but I never really saw them teaching kids how to count or anything like that, but hey, I could've forgotten it.

But Seseme Street, that is a quality kids show. I used to love that show.....And Arthur, that's pretty good for kids, too.

Why would actors and actresses want to be in a kiddie show? Well, probably because they like kids and want to help them learn...=P
