Technically it doesn't come out 'til April in the US, but maybe some other people are resourceful and have been able to get their hands on it with the UK release this week, or live where it's already been released.
Brian...is a god. The human race should be his slave.
I don't agree with the singles at all, Post Blue and Infra-red are much better songs, but oh well. The singles aren't as catchy as past album-defining singles have been, but they're ok. The other songs, though, are fantastic.
Post Blue is by far my early favorite, followed by Infra-red and Meds. It's got an interesting feel to the whole thing. Very self-loathing and kinda depressing. As if every other album hasn't been that way, but moreso in this one.
The line from In The Cold Light Of Morning ("It's a loser, a sinner, a cock in a dildo's disguise,") is pure brilliance, for the sheer humor of it.
I like that there aren't any "experimental" tracks of just annoying noise on this one, I always listen to them once then skip 'em.
It's not everything some people are making it out to be, certainly not their best album, but it's good. I always get nervous with new releases from bands with such high standards to live up to, but Brian delivered.
Anyone else gotten their hands on it yet? _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Maaan I really want that like so badly. :(
With Limewire, I've been able to download a bunch of Placebo songs and now all this exposure to Brian's voice is causing like this teensy obsession with him.
I absolutely love Every You Every Me right now. If the new songs are similar to that or Nancy Boy or even Sleeping With Ghosts then I'll be a happy girl. My boyfriend won't be so much 'cuz he hates Placebo with every fiber of his being. He said something like "I'm surprised you don't like emo then. This guy's voice is so whiney that he could pass for emo." I told him to shut up and listen to the actual lyrics which he didn't do. <_<
Then I showed him a picture of Brian and the first reaction was "He looks like a fucking girl. Hahaha! What a pansy!" Then to be a smartass, he put the same picture as his computer desktop. I wouldn't mind so much if he wasn't doing this just to be an ass. <_<
I guess Placebo is like an aquired taste in music, right? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Haha, yeah, his voice is whiny but not on purpose. He talks like that too. And they have happy songs like...um....I'll Be Yours is about as close as it gets, but at least they aren't bitchy.
I suppose they're a bit of an acquired taste, but also one you have to pay attention to. I'd hate them if the writing wasn't there. That's why my mother hates them too, she doesn't listen to music for the words, so she loves my hair metal and classic rock but can't stand Placebo 'cause the songs aren't very catchy except the last two albums.
The songs just wouldn't be the same without Brian's high voice.
Meds is closest to Sleeping With Ghosts [the album] with touches of all the past ones in individual songs. Some slow ones, some that sound more like the first album, some catchy ones... Brian's talked about it saying they changed sounds after every album, and this is the first one where they sorta settled into what Placebo is about.
Post Blue is my favorite song off Meds.
Followed by Infra-red
They're so... not emo. lolz Aside from the fact they started in '96 when you could still write a sad song and not be "omgz sooo 3M0!" It's funny 'cause their one song about the same things as emo is on there. Has he listened to Teenage Angst?
Airs and social graces
Elocution so divine
I'll stick to my needle
And my favourite waste of time
Both spineless and sublime
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever ever goes my way
Emo kids don't know what Brian's big words mean. :(
Since the haircut Brian just looks like a pocket sized imp that needs his cheeks squished and fucked into oblivion.

That was my favorite haircut. 'Til he started taking style tips from Stef.
Hey, a message for your boyfriend. ^_^ _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Song to say good bye is pretty good, I still need to get my hands on the CD.
The video has a great concept, I like it a lot. _________________

Placebo always has drastically different yet awesome videos. If you have a few extra bucks the video DVD, Once More With Feeling, is well worth the money. You Don't Care About Us where they're being fed to the sharks...Special K with the science fiction theme...good stuff.
Because I Want You is one of the first times they've done a video just with performing, aside from Without You I'm Nothing with Bowie. And the movie soundtrack songs sorta. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yeah.
Their covers are hot. Too bad they're pricks and the cover album was released to like every fuckin' country except America. <_<
Johnny and Mary, 20th Century Boy, I Feel You, Holocaust, Ballad of Melody Nelson (Brian's voice is so fucking hot), Bigmouth Strikes Again, etc. etc. etc.
If you haven't seen Velvet Goldmine, it's worth it just for Placebo. As the Flaming Creatures. And naked Ewan McGregor in his best look ever, but mostly Placebo. Brian all dolled up like a real 70s glam rocker singing 20th century boy. <3 _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I love Placebo, and yea Brian is a god
Unfortunatly I have yet to get my hands onto a cd of theirs, lack of cash and being in a hicktown helped with that
I forgot the name of not only the first song I'd heard of theirs but my favorite, but I think its... Pure Morning, actually now that I think of it I'm possitive that was it....
Took me forever to find out who it was too, first time I ever heard it was on a mix Cd I got from a friend who had taken it from a friend so he had no idea who it was either... I fell in love with the voice with eveything about the music really, so I had to find it.
Placebo is great, and Brian is the cherry onto of a delicious cake, yea cake cause I don't like sundaes too much, brain freeze............. ^_^ |

Brian is like cake. Or a cupcake maybe, given how tiny he is. A delightful little cupcake in lipstick.
Pretty much the only song people in America who aren't purposefully looking for Placebo have heard is Pure Morning 'cause it's the only one that's ever done well here. Such a shame.
But bands like Placebo and Hanoi Rocks who have no use for America are why god invented internet shopping. And import taxes. <_< _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
