Well, what do like better? I like the varity in hardness and shade in wooden pencils, i've got 6b-2h, but i'd have to say mechanical because the line thickness stays consistant, compared to slowly tapering out and making small details almost impossible after the first five minutes of use. _________________ Hey, I'm lazy! |

I prefer mechanical because the art I do is generally very detailed, for line art... But I don't mind wood, either, depending on what I'm doing. They both have their uses. _________________

Too much pressure?
I can't even fathom 2mm... That's so thick. @_@ I tend to go for 0.3 or 0.5. _________________

the lead is about as thick as wooden pencils, there's a sharpener that sharpens the lead. and the lead holder is very strong, it's very economical if you think about it, you should get it Fayore :P
-there's no wood wasted
-you can use until the very end of the lead, you don't waste the last bit like the wooden ore mechanical.
-It comes in variety of strength, and Steadtler makes it B)
-you waste very little of the lead unlike wooden.
the penholder last forever and it costs 5 bucks, and the lead (12pc) costs about 15 bucks. let's say those 12 pieces is really 16 since you use up the whole thing... yeah, in the long term, you're saving money and the environment. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Oh, there's a sharpener for it? I get it, hahah... It's just that I don't tend to think to sharpen the lead in mechanical pencils. ^^;
I don't think it's worth it for me, though, since I go through lead pretty fast. ^^; _________________

2.0 mm? Thats huge. I could never use one of those, I usually draw really small, so I'd get some jet black satan eyes in my pencil sketches. I really just tend to stick with my basic 0.7mm and 0.5mm, but if I need size, i'll use my handy-dandy 0.9mm. _________________ Hey, I'm lazy! |

mechanical pencils are my way. .7mm is what i normally use and I use it for my school work YAY!
after all, all that scribbing can make a pretty sharp edge which can help you make fine details in your drawings with is a plus because you aren't wasting the lead (BTW use ONE side one, to get it really sharp. ) _________________

I use Mech. pencils mainly because I don't like getting up while I'm on a roll to sharpen my pencil. |

It really depends on my mood. Most of the time I use wooden pencils, because that's what I have around, but sometimes I want to do something more finely detailed and go with the mech. I like mechanical pencils better, I just can't keep up with the lead. |

I stopped using wooden pencils once I entered high school. Haven't really touched one since. XD So naturally, everything that I do is in .5mm mechanical pencil. I used to use .7mm lead, but it was too thick for me. I like the extra detail that a thinner piece of lead allows. |

I felt odd in my Economics class, beucase 8 out of the 9 people only owned mechanical pencils.
I like .5mm lead best, as do I for pens that I use. |

in my case i use mechanical pencils for detailed works i plan to ink, while i use wooden for shading and such (cover large areas). I prefer wooden pencils a little more because all the differant intensities, light gray to pitch black and such. |

I use a mechanical pencil, but only for work. Never ever ever ever for art... with the exception of concept sketches. Graphite has that reflection to it that just doesn't cut it for drawing anything other than doodles. For drawing I use wooden charcoal or ebony pencils. _________________ |

0.5 mechanical, always. My favorite pencil is a mech...I'd freak if I ever lost it. But I suppose that is just one of the oddities that come along with being an artist... |

I guess it depends on what i'm drawing. If I want to do some neat line art that I can easily go over in pen then it's likely that i'll use a mecahical pencil, but I use a wooden one if I need to do alot of detail or shading. :\ |
