*Hemhem*

I have this really bad... *urge* to rave about several authors, and, well, there's too many of them!
Sooo... if you have an author you think is good, reccomend them here!

I have to say, anyone who hasn't should read Kevin Brook's Martyn Pig, Lucas, and KISSING the RAIN. MP is a semi-thriller, and very Sherlock Holmes-y; L is a bittersweet story that is just *brilliant*; KtR is a seriously demented story -- in that it really sounds like a teenager. I'm not good at summarizing, so you'll have to take my word for it: they rock. Brooks has some radical new talent and is one of the best new authors out there. MP got nominated for the Carnegie shortlist last year, I don't think it won; L got to the longer list this year, but didn't make the shortlist, unfortunately.

Garth Nix, too, is amazing. Most people have heard of Sabriel, Mister Monday etc. so I won't dwell on him too long.

Erlack, so many to plug, so little time (yep, the most abused phrase ever)! If you like family stories with a difference, check out Hilary Mckay, whose books are just awesome. Some how, they just get you to sit and think, despite the fact that the subject matter could be considered as *cute*.
And as for Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adam... just read the Discworld and Hitchhiker's Guide books, I say, and then make up your mind!

Note: *I* think these authors/books rock, but some people don't. I am merely expressing my opinion. Please don't moan and say, 'well, I didn't like them!', thanks.
Now, get reccomending! ^_^

When I was younger I really loved Mildred D. Taylor's work. She wrote stuff like Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, The Road to Memphis, Let the Circle Be Unbroken, The Well, and some other really good books. I really loved her writting style. Now I'm not too sure who my favorite author is. All I know is that I really love to sit down with a good sci-fi book. ^_^

I was thinking about To Kill a Mocking Bird when I posted that last thing. It's like you're reading my mind or something. WTF? spooky... Both authors write fictional southern historic stuff, so their writing is pretty realated. That was an excellent book. Smile

Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickmen - I can't worship these two enough for writing Dragonlance... They are my gods... I worship them and the world of Krynn everyday... they are the best fantasy writers ever. Such awsome characters... and cool races as well... like the kender, imagine an entire race of cleptomatic midgets

Orsen Scott Card- Fantasy Sci fi writer... Loved his book Songmaster. It was a masterpiece in my opinion, it was so beautiful even though I've read it at least a dozen times it can still make me cry in some parts... especially the ending. I practically have that book memorized by now.

Robert Asprin- He writes fantasy on crack! So awsome. If you ever get a chance read the MYTH series, you'll die of laughter. I especially like Gleep the Dragon and Vince the Vampire (who LOVES garlic)

I'm suprized no one has done anything for Clive Cussler and his Dirk Pitt novels... he's like the coolest character of all time! Very Happy

Go out and read Atlantis Found, Raise the Titanic, The Mediterainian Caper, and Iceberg; the best books of the Dirk Pitt series!

AMEN! He's my favorite author..I have, I think, all his books and read each one at least twice. If anyone remembers Animorphs, K.A. Applegate is a good writer too. =3

Hmm....favourite authors? Lesse...

William Golding: Author of Lord of the Flies (In my opinion, a masterpiece.)
JK Rowling: Hey, I can't help it-Harry Potter's a fun read.
Douglas Adams: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. XD Good stuff
William Shakespeare: If I have to explain this one, that's just sad.
Edgar Allan Poe: Same as above. Melodramatic, but genius.
The author of Fight Club...his name escapes me now, but I love him. XP

Yeah, there are others, but I can't think of them at the moment...

Yeah, I've seen them. Remnants. I haven't picked them up yet, but I'm thinking about it. (though I'd fall further in debt..I'm broke..)

My favs are:

J.R.R. Tolkien: nuff said.
R.A. Salvatore: The reigning king of action with amazingly indepth characters. Drizzt and Cadderly kick butt.
Troy Denning: Star Wars: Star by Star has some of the most intense action and drama I have ever read in a sci-fi novel...ever!
Hajime Kanzaka: Has the unique ability to combine silly humor and terror to an almost H.P Lovecraft level with his Slayers novels...yes the novels...the ones the manga are LOOSELY based on and the anime which is LOOSELY based on the manga.
