I don't know if anyone else has throught about this, but I think that some cartoons have tryed to mix in Anime features into therir style of animation. Things like sweat drops, speedline backgrounds, etc. Some examples of shows I can think of are;
-W.I.T.C.H,
-Totally Spies,
-Martin Mystery,
-Teen Titans.
All these programs I think are made in other countries, but mix some Anime stuff into them.
I think in a lot of cases, this works well, but I would like to know what you all think about it, and could you name any other shows that you think does this.
C U 'round.

They're not trying to "mix anime bits in", they're blatatly trying to ripoff the anime style because it's popular. Same as with Avatar. Martin Mystery and Totally Spies are Canadian, I know. WITCH may be too, but I'm not sure. Teen Titans is WB.
I absolutely abhore these cartoons. I think that they are an affront to animation in general. American animation is a beautiful thing (and by "American Animation" I mean the style of animation deleoped in America), but these shows generally mix ugly, flat character designs with cheap anime tricks like prolonged stills and excessive pans. It absolutely kills the characters. Old cartoons like Chuck Jones' Bugs Bunny shorts made animated characters into living, breathing things. Fake anime (and in most cases, REAL anime) are nothing more than moving drawings by comparisson.
As far as Avatar goes, I hate people who think that it's the shit and say it's the greatest cartoon going these days.... They try their hardest to make it look like something out of Japan, but the animation ends up being so jerky and spastic it makes me want to vomit. I'm not exaggeratiing, when I watch that cartoon it literally makes me feel physically unwell. _________________

I'm glad you noticed that. Usually, people assume that only the mock-ups do that. I will reserve my stance on avatrar. I mostly am just fed up with marathon, myself. |

Oh, real anime is horrible for it. After a year of traning in even just basic animation techniques you start watching for things like how many frames they go through in a scene...There are some anime sequences that go on for like three minutes with less that ten different drawings. I don't mind it so much in cartoons where they're making fun of it, like Chromartie High, but most of the time it's just studios being cheap.
That's what I can't stand about the entertainment industry in Japan, It's all SO CHEAP. They're like the most technically advanced country in the world but their television shows and movies are nothing but cut corners and really bad special effects. It all looks like American stuff from the 80's. Studio Ghibli is the only big one I can think of that actually produces quality stuff. There are small Japanese studios that do decent work too, mainly because the animators take pride in what they do and don't rely on token aneemay devices, but a lot of them will never get much overseas attention. _________________

Some of those are actually shows I don't mind. Totally Spies is my favorite out of those. _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)
