| Something more specific, please. Like books, movies and stuff that you like to write fanfiction about.

 | Moi? Je ne sais pas.
Je prefere la fiction originale, mais parfois les comedies, et les films d'action sont bon...Parfois.

I believe that most fanfictions are butcheries and rapes of the original idea set forth by the author...there's an extent to which you can toy with someone else's story before it becomes very wrong and very, very, weird.

I dunno. What I prefer in fanfiction is a well written story. Simply put I'll read anything as long as it is written well. I'm there for the content, not the characters. They come second.

 | I tend to basically stick to Inuyasha fanfiction, don't know why. When ever I do any fanfics, I like to make them deeper than just things happening. I normally tend to do a mix of angst, psyche, and comedy. Starnge combo, I know, but I think written right it gives a little something to everyone, and it keeps it fairly fast paced.
So, I would say toss in different genres, play with them and just keep writing until you have found the blend you like, and remember to always keep something happening, because I know from expierience that if the story suddenly gets slow, I tend to stop reading pretty quickly.

 |
I like video game fanfiction, to write, that is. I don't read much fanfiction.
Ditto here. Most fanfiction tends to be by, well, fangirls and the sort, so I mostly shy away from those. 9_9; But on occasion, I'll find a really good humor-ful fanfic or something which isn't just in chat-style speak, and is actually kinda witty. Otherwise, I'm too lazy to sit down and really concentrate on deep, thoughtful pieces. OOC also gets kind of annoying, because it doesn't even feel like it's a fanfic anymore...

Ahem. I'm done.

 | ...eh. I'd tend to disagree with that slightly. I've found that if you look hard enough, you can find some really good stuff out there.
You just have to look really, really, really hard.

And I know that tends to be a pain.

The brightside is this, though: once you find one good fanfic writer, chances are that they'll have connections to others. And then from there you can find an entire network of very well-written stories.

It just takes time.

 | I'm personally for drama in a fic. I don't care if it's romantic or action, it needs to be dramatic. Also, my favorite type of fic of all time is an AU My Life As A Teenage Robot fic, because the show was lacking in that emotional impact that I have came to know and love from writing, but it had a great set of characters with a lot of potental in a well done AU fic. My favorite fic of all time in fact is Chains on fanfiction.net, and it is an AU MLAATR fic. In fact, it started getting me into fanficton in the first place, and with some brainstorming, I came up with my own MLAATR AU fic, which in fact is currently turning from a fic to a trilogy, and possibly a series. I love most fics in a teen superhero type universe. I don't usually like Naruto fics or other anime fics because I don't watch much anime, and they usually are badly written script fics. I also don't like potter fics. I prefer an american cartoon fic any day. | |
