I know Zekk had the sig, dunno if anyone else has checked them out.
I saw them opening for Motley last year, first of 3 openers and should have been third because most people hadn't even got there and they blew away the Exies and Sum41 (which I wouldn't have bothered sitting through if it weren't so hot out of the stadium). Great oldschool performers, Nick (guitarist) even did the classic soloing up the aisle move, which wasn't an easy task with all the barricade and equipment they had stacked between the stage and aisle the cord got stuck on. Walt (singer) did the same in the other aisle, took some guy's beer, great showmen.
And talented as hell, my god, to have the exies follow actual guitar and vocal skill was a terrible choice on the part of the organizer, although I guess in contrast Motley looked and sounded like gods.
Anyway, they don't have quite the album history or exposure (yet) of some others, but they're worth a mention and anyone who's seen or heard them can throw their two cents in. They're an interesting mix of AC/DC style classic rock and some sounds that border on contemporary emo-ish songs. Like Heartstrong, but the skill is still there. Just the sound and melody echo more modern, whiny trends.
But most are good. And Walt can actually sing. Nick Perri is Angus Young meets Jimmy Page in all the best ways. oh ya, and he's gorgeous, that doesn't hurt. you can't be an ugly guitarist
I think they're in that new Lady In The Water movie too.

I think that they had the best idea when it came to writing lyrics:
"I improvised on the spot and anything I could remember later on was written down".
They came to Charleston a few months ago and I wanted to see them because of "Blue Jeans", but I didn't get the chance.
I've been thoroughly impressed. |

I think Blue Jeans is one of their best. Perfect mix of funky melody and a harder edge. Some songs get a bit...weak/generic melody-wise. Their best are the likes of Blue Jeans, Mary Jane, and Ain't Comin' Home. Ain't Comin' Home was their closing song, and they rocked the hell out of it. They really know how to work a crowd and make the songs connect.
I've missed singers/frontmen like Walt. He can carry a tune with a good range without screaming, whining, or having that nasal teenage sound so many contemporary acts have. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

They're original, unlike Wolfmother. You can tell who their influences are, but you can also tell that they're doing their own spin on things that makes it unique.
While Wolfmother tries to be Zeppelin. |
