theres some thing i dont understand...... lately people have been putting up links to there gallery and saying "pleassssssseeee look at my gallery and add me to your faves"...... its just to me, it seems people are being a TAAAAD bit bigheaded or *thinks*........i wonna be famous now attitude. And im sorry but, fame like that dont come in an instant, you gotta work on it, actually make it so your work will eventually make you famous on FAC. It could happen really soon.....or you may have to wait a while but im just saying.

......fame dont come in an click of the fingers, and dont plead for people to like your work, thats gonna just send 'em away even if your arts GREAT......just thought id say that cas its just been annoying me...*looks around room*

Well, as long as the "Please look at my stuff" threads are posted in the Self Promotion area, I think it's fine. That's what the section's for. But yeah, it does sound a little big-headed of people. But they just want reviews. Heck, I want reviews, too, but I ain't gonna beg.

Aw, who am I kidding? I do beg.

Still. People here... I think that they want others who draw at about the same level to be "buddies" with 'em. It makes them feel good if they have a clique. Some go so far as to only make friends with people of a lesser skill level so that they feel like the leader. But that isn't everyone.

That gets on my nerves as well. I used to do it when I first joined(2 month anniversary was today), but I got sick of doing it. I don't get any hits in Self Promotion anyways, so I'll submit for the fun of it.

people who are so desperate sometimes annoy me if they are persistant. like one person commented on my profile once 'i like your work can you look at my art under the category of yadayadayada?'

i noticed, most of the time it's people who's work isn't all that great that beg for comments. i mean, the farthest i go for that kind of thing is putting 'Comments for the insane?' at the end of my description for each pic.

in fact, if you don't seem to care as much about comments, people are more likely to. after all, people who just comment because you beg them to aren't commenting from their feelings. random comments are because the person actually thinks your work is good. ^_^

Lack of comments should motivate people to work hard to improve their work and earn comments. Unfortunately it usually doesn't. Sad If they got 20 comments of "amazing! +fav!" on a sub-par work, they'd barely improve and just keep drawing at that level.

unless the artist wanted to improve because of their own feelings on their art rather than the commenters'.

Then they would be happy about their work and not have to whore for comments in the first place. Razz

sad, isn't it?

also, those people who get tons of comment on very sub-par work while greater artists get hardly any is annoying.

or like that pic with most comments. it's 500 comments, and nothing at all special, just because 2 or 3 users decided to use it as a f**king chatroom.

I used to use the thumbshare forum on DA (the first week I joined). But all you get when you whore for comments is 99% of the people run through your gallery posting "Cool!" "Nice, I like it!" "Awesome!" just so you'll go leave some ego-stroking on their work.

I agree as to what your saying but some just need a little more help than others to get the word out that they draw or to just get people to see it in general. good point though ^_^

Because no matter how many places it's stated "do not whore your work", there will always be people starting "hi I'm new, look at my work" or "what do you think of this" threads. So my options are to close them or hope that most end up in a single place. I chose the latter. Smile
