Wii or PS3? Where's the hype?

Holy crap dude who made this thread!!! You have a 360 and you want a PS3/Wii?!?! Are you loaded or something? Ok dumb question.... Rolling Eyes

I really want a Wii! I mean sure, Sony's consoles may have some perks, but I've always been a Nintendo Fan. I've a N64, now have a Gamecube, and am planning to save some money for the Wii. But that is going to take forever...

Your so luckey you have a 360 though! I haven't heard of any games for it yet. Any good games anyway. Just Viva Pinata. That looks so stupid...

You gotta check out eBay's listing of PS3 auctions . . . they're flying past the thousand mark (one auction has already hit $10 grand). Comparing the # of eBay results for "PS3" versus the estimated # of launch consoles, it sounds as if nearly 1 out of 4 PS3's are winding up on eBay.

By contrast, most eBay auctions for Wiis are barely past the $500 mark (granted, this is T-2 days to launch, but...) .

That's terrible that people do that, you know? There's some tween out there who wants a PS3 REAL BAD for Christmas. And there are all these people selling them for some ridiculous profit!

A semi-quote from my father when he saw a news report about the PS3 sale at Circuit City or Bestbuy or wherever:

*Sigh* " People are dying everyday in the war in Iraq, and here we Americans are fighting over a Playstation..."

Ridiculous. Where's the hype? Very good question...

I just saw a story on the news that someone was robbing people at gunpoint while they were waiting in line for the PS3, and someone got shot when they refused to give up their money.

a friend of mine's wouldn't turn on sometimes wouldn't play some DVD's( they weren't damaged or odd)

Me, turns out I was #21 in line for Nintendo's console. Out of about 40. And they still have Wiis left over.

I was working the graveyard shift across the street from my local electronics store the day the 360 came out. I've never seen so many Asians who needed to use my bathroom in my entire life.

40 people in line huh? small town you live in. the 360 backed up the parking lot, but it's still nothing compared to the ps2 launch.

congrats tho, i'll never be in the top 50 customers at any of these things ;_;

The Wii launch seemed to have gone very smoothly. I was #1 in the line of vultures waiting peck at any leftovers, but Wal-mart was one Wii short of the supply for the ticket holders. I'll either keep an eye out for the next shipment at the store, or check online for it. Oh well, at least I reserved Zelda ahead of time.

Roughly 1% of our town's total population showed up for the Wii launch. Our store has NEVER done a midnight sale for anything before (store hours are 7a~10p), and everyone was done within 15 minutes. Heck, for me it was just grab a claim ticket, in, scan the display racks, pick up Zelda, an extra Wiimote, the console, put it on debit and that was that.

Sales numbers so far claim that the Wii has sold roughly 50% more units [i]in one day[/i] then Sony's PS3 has done in one week (remember, Japan launched the PS3 on the 11th).

with the nice price difference, you should have known. you could get two of everything you got with the wii for the price of one ps3.

Eh, screw the next-gen consoles. I'm just looking forward to getting myself another PS2 when I get back to the States so I can play all the great games that I've been missing out on. FFXII has kept me from wanting to play any more heavy-duty RPGs in Japanese - I'll save my JPS2 for my rhythm games. <3

You know... I bet that wouldn't be the case if the price wasn't so blindingly high for the bloody thing. :X <s>That, and Sony produced more units for the launch in general...</s>

lol, one of my supervisors at work lined up for the Wii. XD; Said he didn't want the PS3 since he had a PSP and it kept breakin' on him... which I'd have to agree. I've never even heard of a Nintendo console breaking down prematurely, but PS? Damn, Sony. :< I've had to buy far too many replacement controllers for my PSX. :s

But yeah. PS3... Thefts, fights, even a gun (armed robbery~?), not to mention actual <i>campers</i> one week before its release... Hell, that must be some awesome console. @_@

Speaking of campers, one of the teachers at my school skipped the day to line up for a PS3. o.o;

Hooked up the console a few hours ago and played a bit of Wii Sports. My Wii Sports bowling actually reflects the times I've gone real bowling . . . not very good control over the ball. And what's even more hilarious is if I forget to hold down the "B" button while swinging the remote, causing my Mii (avatar character) to drop the ball midswing and it goes absolutely nowhere. Positively hilarious.

Spent maybe two hours on Twilight Princess. Nintendo probably could have implemented the sword-swinging better (Link performs strikes in a set direction, just like N64 Zelda, instead of actually mimicking the direction you swing the remote in), but aiming the slingshot has never been easier.

And wow, just one or so hours in and already Link gets whisked off to the Twilight Realm and *poof* transformed into a wolf. Even as a wolf he still has that Triforce marking on his forepaw (left normally, but right for the Wii version).

Which comes as a major boost to the fun factor considering the last game I played (Okami) was also about a wolf. Midna is quite amusing the way she treats Link. "Oh I forgot, you're not a human anymore, you're a [i]beast![/i]" And in the castle dungeon where Link comes to, you can hear him breathing in the silence. Cooool.

Aww..No fair Strata, I can't play my Zelda untill Wal- mart gets more Consoles in. Gotta get it at Wal-mart cause of my employee discount, plus I loaded all the money on a giftcard so I wouldn't spend it.
