the government doesn't like you.

I'd like to have one just for the sports games. But i dont play golf, baseball or bowling games. So if the wii doesn't have any of my top 5 games, i'll never get it. Most of the games i own now are PS games, and all the games I'm going to want in the next year are coming out on the PS3. So that pretty much makes up my mind for me.

Reading the discussions around the net, it seems the $600 dollar price tag for the PS3 is becoming more and more worth it. They say the ability to browse the internet (which the wii is also capable of) may not be of much use. Being a surfer who doesn't really do any downloading, mostly just lurking/posting on forums and looking up videos, I have to differ.

I just got an HDTv last weekend and now I realize why hi-def gaming is all the rage. I have trouble even looking at my PS2 on my new tv but the 360 is superb. All I crave is hi-def. I hear some PS3 games are being downplayed to 480p on 720p/1080i tv sets. They are supposedly working on an update to fix that.
That's one strike against the Wii is that it's only running on 480p.

1. No.
2. Who cares? Confused

As for hdtvs... well, I don't really care too much about that. I hear that the graphics look pretty sharp on a regular tv anyway.

...and I was never overly interested in the graphical aspect of games anyway, lol. *sprite gamer*
with the power gap between the wii and ps3... it's not about the games anymore
But don't forget the equally vast price gap, either Wink
So if the wii doesn't have any of my top 5 games, i'll never get it.
Wii Sports includes tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing. And it uses the console's built-in custom character ("Mii") system.
Aww..No fair Strata, I can't play my Zelda untill Wal- mart gets more Consoles in. Gotta get it at Wal-mart cause of my employee discount, plus I loaded all the money on a giftcard so I wouldn't spend it.
Fringe benefits of a small town, what can I say. I was actually kinda surprised that there wasn't a bigger crowd. I figured, the store's never done anything like this before, I've never done anything like it before, and probably would never get to do it for any later console . . . so I went.
I have trouble even looking at my PS2 on my new tv but the 360 is superb.
That's the problem with HDTV, you have to have high-resolution graphics for a high-resolution set. Low-res graphics on a high-res set will look ugly (as will any image scaled upwards), and high-res graphics on a low-res set is an exercise in futility.

Word is that Miyamoto originally wanted Nintendo's new console to retail for $100. PS3 fans, be glad that it never happened.

Have any of you seen the trailer for the new Bleach game for the Wii (btw, I think the Revolution was a much cooler name. To me, Wii just sounds weird and it's easy to mispronounce...) Back on track, if you haven't you can easily find it on youtube. My point is, it looks so retarded. With the kids swinging the controller around and jumping and stuff. I wouldn't do that even if you asked me...>_<

Although I might have to reconsider. I'm confused now, is Twilight Princess for the Wii? I thought it was for Gamecube...

As for the PS3, I don't see any good games so it's a no go for now.

Twilight Princess is already out for the Wii, but Nintendo is still planning to release a GameCube version sometime later. The only difference I know of so far is that the Wii version uses the Remote for various functionality (such as aiming with the bow/slingshot/etc.) and is mirrored (so that Link appears right-handed, in order to match the majority of gamers). If the GameCube version has other features then it might be worth picking up as well.

...but not Okami. Because you can't compare realism style to a fantasy watercolor cel-shading style.

No, better ask Chuck Norris instead.

But seriously, folks....

It is. It is occasionally hilarious as well, because if you goof up, your character tends to goof up in a similar way (for example, dropping a bowling ball straight down while curling back, or releasing it too late and 'tossing' it onto the lane). So if you "drop the ball", you do indeed drop the ball.

ok well I guess the Wii and PS3 had their share of madness during their launches. I don't really care for the stupidity though (people getting robbed and shot... that's just whack Confused )

All I was saying with my initial post was where was the hype on this here board. Not many folks were chomping at the bit on this site.

Anyway, I think all the systems are a bit pricey. The Wii is all about the controller, so you're dropping $250 for a new controller. And no memory packed with the system... ouch. I just checked on ebgames and the scandisc memory cards are $60-$100. And the $100 was for the 1 gig card. Which kinda sucks. Cause if you're gonna be dumping games on it... you'll run out of that in no time. Sadly I don't see the Wii doing much beyond the first year. After they've exhuasted the use of that controller. On the plus side though... I do like how looks. And I may get it when it drops in price....for the next Metroid. But hell, I may even buy the thing used (on top of the price drop).

As for the PS3... like I said in an earlier post if Fumito Ueda makes a game for it... then I'll cry. And steal one. Cause I don't wanna put $700 in Sony's pocket.

As for the 360. Two words "XBOX LIVE" Cool

But yeah, I think if you want any of these systems you are gonna have to fork up a fair amount of green.

Have you been living under a rock? The Wii has 512MB Flash memory built right in.

ok well, I couldn't find it amonst the specs on the EB site. But I've had downloads that are bigger than that on the xboxlive marketplace. (the phantasy star beta).

I'm just not seeing why I'd need to upgrade from a cube to Wii though. But I am reading more about it. It says you can connect wirelessly (naturally) with a DS. That may be an interesting feature.

But hey, maybe soon I'll actually get my hands on one, just to see exactly what it has to offer.

But aside from Metroid I'm not a Nintendo franchise boy. I hate Mario, and well although I respect Zelda, it's just not my type of game. And I like fantasy adventures. Monkey Ball was my favorite on the cube. But that franchise has been milked a bit too (and the last few offerings were lame) The Wii Monkey Ball may be sweet though.

Right now I will say I'm impressed with the support the Wii has received from other companies. It's getting a lot more titles than I would've expected it to.

I'm sorry if I was harping on nintendo. The controller does offer a depth in gaming that was other wise not even touched.

And hey, I thought the DS was a dumb idea. But I got one, and I love it. Maybe the Wii needs to come out with an Animal Crossing game Rolling Eyes

And packing the Wii sports with the system is a sweet deal. I'll give them that.

Well lets see? What does the Wii have thats worth upgrading from the Gamecube. Hmm...?

1. Internal Memory (512 is the equivalent to well over 2000 blocks on Gamecube)
2. Smaller and sexier
3. Motion Sensing Controller
4. Wireless is standard
5. Roughly double the power
6. Super Smash Bros Brawl
7. Virtual Console
8. Wii Channels
9. Web Browser
10. It's name is Wii. WII GODDAMMIT! Beat that, uncreative Microsoft and Sony.

Anti_sk84 is correct, the Wii's internal memory is intended primarily for storing game saves and Virtual Console titles.

... What's the point of creativityin a console name? It suits Nintendo because they've always been appealing to younger people who would like the "different" name more. They've always been more appealing to party-type people.

Sony and Microsoft on the other hand? They KNOW their console'll fetch a pretty penny just from the name alone. It's like popular game series, like Final Fantasy or Halo or whatever else - the newest stuff doesn't necessarily have to be good but people will still buy it just for the name associated with it.

Marketing mechanics! :teach:

btw, most of the stuff you mentioned is in the other consoles, too. in fact, both Sony and Microsoft have been doing the internet thing for a while now. I think the GC was the only console of the three that didn't support it back in the previous gen. :l
