What are some remakes you wish that would one day be released on retail shelves?

Mine are:

-FF7, 8, and 9 all compiled into one (of course, better graphics, an extended storyline and voice dialogue)
-Killer Instinct (preferably for the X-box)
-Super Mario 64 for the Gamecube
-Perfect Dark for the Gamecube
-Super Metroid for the Gameboy Advance
-Panzer Dragoon Zwei and RPG

That's all I can think of for now....

FFVII obviously, no voice though please, I dont like being referred to as "Son of Jecht" all the time (Or "Ex-SOLDIER" in FFVII)

Mega Drive Sonic games into 3D would be cool, still linear of course so as not to change the game, but brought up to date.

Mario 64 would be good too, although theyd have to call it Mario 128 which they were already planning on doing (as of about 3 years ago...or was it Mario^3?))

Im sure there are a load of others...

Me? I'd love to see a real-time-combat remake of ANY Final Fantasy game.

I'd love to see remakes of NiGHTS and Burning Rangers and Capcom should remake Resident Evil 2 & 3.

A remake of Legend of teh Dragoon would be awsome! Or if you wanna go for a really old game a remake of Faxanadu (NES) for Gamecube would be cool too ^^

A remake of Paper Boy would be great.

f**k the suburbs this time. Make the kid's route go through dangerous neighborhoods. Hardly anyone pays, though, so instead of aiming for their front door, aim for their face, knock them out, and rob the bitches. Yeah, f**k that sh*tty bike he had, too. You'll start off with it, but as you gain money, you'd be able to hook it up with chrome parts and different paint jobs. And the kid's black.

Though it would be cool to play this on let's say the X-Box or Gamecube, Square probably wouldn't consider remaking them since it'd take too long and quite frankly it's not needed. Rumors have it that if FFXII Doesn't get good reviews than that'll be the last FF. Ever.
-Killer Instinct (preferably for the X-box)
Yes! That's was an excellent game! But alas... There's too many good fighters on the market (DoA, Tekken and Streetfighter) that it'd hold no chance competing with these games. It'd be interesting to see what innovations KI would have that haven't already been done.
-Super Mario 64 for the Gamecube
We have Super Mario Sunshine, what else do you want? It's an interesting idea but it's not needed. Just fire up your SM64 on your N64 cause that's as good as it's gonna get.
-Perfect Dark for the Gamecube
Not gonna happen. Atleast, not for Nintendo that is. For some strange-ass reason Nintendo has given up its contract with Rare and now Microsoft has exclusive rights to the next Perfect Dark game. Don't believe me? Perfect Dark Zero... Looks like an awesome game to me.

Dear lord man... Why post on the Games board when you have little gaming knowledge yourself! Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals has real-time combat. Go, buy it, rent it, I don't care. It's a great game. But then of course you said remake o_O Blah, that'd ruin the FF expirience... Plus it'd be really damn hard to put make...

And as for the comment about the Paperboy remake... Yes, that would be a godly idea. I'd buy that game :D

Super Mario Sunshine is an entirely different game from Super Mario 64 though.

There was a remake of paperboy for the N64, but it wasn't very good.

I don't like the new style square is going for. Since FF 9 or so, I just don't like the character designs anymore, it's too.. decorated, and by now the stories are becomming more and more similar. You just know when to expect an airship and how the main character has a sword, and is somehow related to the fate of the enemy. And always the same summons... I just hope that since they merged with enix, they won't screw up the next ogre battle. Square shouldn't make remakes, but try to get back the 'feel' of the older games.

I think a good contra sidescroller would be a good remake. They should make it incredibly difficult ^_^

The are making a new Contra, it'll be called Neo Contra (creative name eh?) So anyways, yeah... It looks strictly, "Ok" by me. It's like a hash of about 50 different games all put into the Contra gameplay. If I had to sum it up, it looks like a cross between FFX-2, Space Marines, any Gundam/Mech game, a really bad VanDame movie, Contra and a slew of J-Pop songs for it's soundtrack. Bleh... A strictly linear game, nothing new but it sure looks like fun! But if it were up to me, I'd stick with the old SNES contra, yeah that game kicked some ass. There's another game for the PS2 (Neo Contra is aswell released only for the PS2) called Contra: Shattered Soldier or some crap. It was ok, not the best, but if you're a Contra fan you'll love it. It doesn't really have any innovations to the series other than you jump up and down off helicopters and random spaceships as platforms, but it's a sidescrolling shoot-em up, adrenilline-filled action adventure. What's there to innovate? The original SNES version got it down pretty damn well. But another Contra for any next-gen console is more than needed. If one came out for the X-Box as a FPS... well, that's thinking too far ahead.
Super Mario Sunshine is an entirely different game from Super Mario 64 though.
Heh, no... not necessarily my friend. Pretty much most of the gameplay mechanics of Super Mario Sunshine come directly from Super Mario 64. Like starting an level and choosing the objective you want to complete. Also, for completing objectives you get these 'Shines' things which are pretty much just Super Mario 64's 'Stars'. One of the biggest differences between the games are that in Sunshine Mario has that little waterpack (FLUDD) on his back instead of his original 'hats'. I actually prefer the hats because, well there were what? Like half a dozen of them? They were all cool man! Oh, and you got to punch stuff too! Mario can't punch in Sunshine which leaves him with only jumping on his foes or using water to dispense with them. Not to mention there's some camera problems in Sunshine that I don't want to get into right now. And back on track with the FLUDD, you even get one nozzle that I found useless which was the one where you could zip around the ground at super speed by firing the nozzel behind you. Yeah, didn't really come to any relevance to me. But anyway, yeah. If you think about it Sunshine and 64 are both pretty much the same game. In Sunshine the plot has a twist and you get to go around an island and use a waterpack. In N64 it's a mansion and you collect Stars and hats. Their gameplay is very similar to eachother, too similar to even be innovative to the mario franchize. But on a plus note, the graphics are definately pretty damn good. But at times the screen looks either too colorful or too bleached... Meh, their still good. And it's a good game. But a remake of Super Mario 64 is VERY unneeded. SM64 is a good game and quite frankly doesn't need to be remade.

Ah, I see what you're saying. I've never played Sunshine but I've seen gameplay footage of it and I assumed it was different from Super Mario 64 because of that FLUDD device. So I guess it renders a Super Mario 64 remake unneccessary.
Not to mention there's some camera problems in Sunshine that I don't want to get into right now.
I felt Mario 64 had its share of camera problems (especially the Lakitu-Cam, the Mario-Cam was always more responsive), I actually liked Sunshine's camera better.

My favorite FLUDD mode was (almost without contest) the Hover nozzle. Mario flies! Not quite like the Winged Cap from Mario 64, and not nearly as high as the Rocket nozzle. But not only can you hover at any point during a jump but you can also use it to clean up that slippery grime from the surface below ya.

Another cool thing was that Mario Sunshine had Yoshis! Too bad they never came in the green or blue, and they didn't take water well at all, but -- Yoshis! ^_^

Yeah! There WERE Yoshis! God, you've gotta love those critters. Although they are really cool, they really hold no relavance in the game. You can still finish the game without them (by this time you're already half way through the game). All Yoshis really do is give you the ability to swallow fruits and spit that crap all over stuff, it basically has the same effect as the FLUDD. But they're Yoshis, so even when you unlock them you have nothing to complain about.

Hey, Yoshis were optional even in Super Mario World where they were first introduced! That's hardly any different in Mario Sunshine. They jump higher and farther than Mario alone, and they are actually instrumental to finding an occasional Sprite or blue coin....

Offbeat games I want to see remade:

- Rowan Interactive's Airpower: Battle for the Skies

- Sanctuary Wood's Wolf/Lion

- Jill of the Jungle (hee)

- First Encounters

- Flight (probably renamed)
Was a proto-MMRPG where you could be one of many races - dragon, fay, demon, gargoyle, angel, ect. It was beta-tested but never released (to my knowledge)
