Went to the cinema to see this today. From the same guy who did 28 Days Later. Since it's a British film it probably won't be out in the states for a while longer, kinda like Hot Fuzz.
It's a sci-fi thriller set in the near future. In case you haven't heard what it's about, the solar system's sun is dying, and a ship is sent on a mission to reignite it and save everyone on earth. Though things don't go according to plan and soon they're fighting for their lives.
Wasn't a bad film IMO. Nowhere as thrilling or "edge of your seat" as some people made it out to be, but then again there aren't many films that actually live up to that ideal. Though one thing I thought was weird about it was there weren't any segments on the backgrounds of the characters. No flashbacks, no long talks about people back home etc. There is a little bit at the end, but that isn't much to go on. Not that I missed them, but it means that we were stuck with only what we had on screen.
Couple bits that weren't very clear. The scuffle in the virtual reality room at the end could have been shown more, instead of just being left as flashes of movement under flickering lights. Plus the "bad guy" seemed a bit too superhuman for me.
All in all though it was a good watch. Anyone else seen it and want to post their thoughts on it? _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |
