hey just wondering if anyone knows of any interesting side projects. i know a couple of good ones...
probot- dave grohl (foo fighters) side project. he wrote all the music for these great heavy metal songs that reflected his musical loves from his teenage years, and got singers from a bunch of 80s heavy metal/grunge bands to sing. the only band i knew was motorhead, but the whole album's great
the network- green day's side project. it's cool 80s-techno type stuff. interesting
lars frederiksen- lead singer of rancid, but released a couple solo albums. haven't heard too much of it but it sounds ok.
hmm i feel like i'm forgetting one... so can anyone reccommend any other side projects? _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

Samantha 7 ("shaddup, Fallen..."). C.C. DeVille's old side project from a few years ago. But the album is still great pop punk.
"Songs of Life" Bret Michaels's side project. A great collection of solo material with some really talented guest musicians.
"Glitter 4 Your Soul" Rikki Rockett's side project. He covered a bunch of glam rock classics (70s, not hair metal) with some more talented guest performers.
Where's Bobby's side project? (who cares)
Not sure if it counts as a side project, but Naked Beggars with Jeff and Eric from Cinderella are pretty good. Eric's wife fronts the band. I'm just a bit bitter towards the group, since it means they're more excited about that than doing anything with Cinder. Bastards.
Adler's Appetite - I'll call this Brent Muscat's side project, though it features other guys. But Brent is the one with Pussycat and other things. Used to be called Suki Jones.
Motley Priest - Well if you count it as a side project from TUFF (or from whoring Tuff sTuff online), Stevie Rachelle fronts it. They're like a slightly more serious Metal Skool.
Some of those you can only hear samples or find bootlegs of (or catch a show) 'cause they don't have albums (yet? hmmm). _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Velvet Revolver is a side project, of sorts. Guns N' Roses isn't exactly extinct yet. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

But they're not a member of Axl n' Friends/Rose n' Roses. It's more of a "fuck you, Axl" project. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Umm...*goes to look* They have a page there but don't have rights to the album. And that's not surprising considering the "review" of it is not exactly flattering. Fuckin' asshole. She doesn't get it. It's not supposed to be a serious record of deep meaningful lyrics. Since when has C.C. ever set out to write life-changing ballads? While Bret (supposedly) wrote Every Rose and Something to Believe In, C.C. wrote Talk Dirty To Me and Nothin' But a Good Time. Come on.
Sammy 7 is just as tongue in cheek as Poison was. I Wanna Be Famous is about not being "that guy in Poison" but wanting to be famous like Johnny Depp is. Being all around famous, and not famous for a role or specific project. Hell, "Framed" was originally called and written as "I Was Raped" (I have the demo of it) and is him claiming to a girlfriend that her friend raped him. "she had a comb, but she said it was a knife. I was alone, and I was too scared to put up a fight. I know I said I'd never do it again. I didn't know she was one of your friends. I told her no, she didn't listen. She forced herself down on me..."
She's obviously no fan of Poison, either, if she thinks the Sammy 7 record was meant to be serious. It's meant to be fun and silly, he is fun and silly. I hate people who don't get it then rant and rave about how bad it is. Ya missed the joke, guys.
Oops. Slight rant mode. But no one insults C.C. without a damn good reason. You can call him a coked out, sloppy, loud, obnoxious jackass, but a bad album it is not.
Oh jesus...they have that review of utter BS and then have an interview with him that completely explains it all. Good lord. Granted it's a bit wordy (though you can bet he said it all in five minutes) and depressing that he spends so much time talking about how great it is to be sober when he's since picked up the coke habit again, but it still explains the tongue in cheek circumstances of the record. Stupid bitch.
Anyway. Uh... I'm sure you can find the Sammy 7 record really cheap. They still have copies in some stores around here. There's the 30 second previews on all the online sites. BestBuy, Vh1.com and such...
(heh, I think I've spent so much time agreeing with people lately that he's a mess, it was about time for a babbling amount of praise... I love me some C.C.. God help me. Now I'm gonna go find my Sammy 7 record and mentally give "Janiss" the finger.)
EDIT: Forgot to say... you must listen to Bury Me. One of the best songs on the record. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

i looked for them on launchcast also. goddammit i hate when they don't have the albums. there are so many bands i'd like on there but their albums aren't available. o well. heh i didn't read the review (i'll be sure not to) tho. sorry the writer is a moron.

 Looking back on that, there really needs to be some kind of filter on my computer that says "shut up, Fallen, no one else on the planet gives two shits about that little crack head" when I try to post. Yeah, someone really needs to get on inventing that...
Then again, someone has to play devil's advocate for the underdog.
