Just a reminder that you can still submit images you'd like to see (your own, mind you) on FAC products to the thread in the Contests forum. It's easiest if you submit the high resolution version right away. You can host it at http://www.ripway.com and leave a link in the thread.
Brief reminder of the requirements:
~ Only your own art (obviously)
~ High resolution for printing. 300 dpi is best, though we can use less.
~ jpg or gif images, please
~ If at all possible, transparent gif images are appreciated, though not required
~ Please keep in mind images will appear on products such as shirts and should have an appeal as such, not simply any piece of fanart.
Thank you for all submissions. An email has been sent to those who originally posted ideas/submissions. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Could probebly get away with some anime stuff if its not licensed, but I dont want to push it. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

Everyone's enthusiasm is underwhelming. You've all got five days before I get back. If no one has submitted something by then... Don't make me come to you. (Li, I'm looking in your direction...)
Denis may be passive aggressive and just wait, but I said I'd get the job done and will. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

okay give me the low down on how this would work... Ive got tons of stuff at the right dpi and in transparent form of the Angels, and Id love to see them on at least one shirt, but Id like to also let everyone readind the shirt to know their the Angels Inc angels and get free advertising in the process.
How are the shirts laid out? I think we were discussing this before! I think the FAC logo and url on a pocket on the front, with a big FAC and picture on the back. people tend to stare you down when you cant see they are! but could it have the AI symbol in the art on the back? if so Ill post one to see how it does. _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I like Bruce's shirt layout idea. It incorporates a lot. ^_^
How are you planning on putting the images onto the products? I found a really awesome site http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/ where you can put the image on a wide variety of products for free and sell them for payments with PayPal. I'm not sure if someone else suggested that already or if you already looked at it and decided it wasn't what you were looking for, but I thought it seemed like it was worthy of your attention, since it seems pretty easy and simple. And they have some awesome products...what wouldn't I give for an FAC lunchbox or messenger bag? The sell prices seem quite reasonable too, as I havce yet to see a typical product over $20 (with the exception of hoodies and 75 pc. pin of magnet sets). |

I had the iron out from a friend working on Renkotsu crossplay and I found some T-Shirt transeft paper..so I made a shirt... Here are some pics of the front, left sleeve, and back. The images on the front and back could be be switched, depeing on what the person wanted where...I think they would look good either way.
Front
Left Sleeve
Back
Disclaimer: I used Raymei and DG-Sama's pics on the shirt...I left Raymei's signature on the front pic and I added "DG-Sama" to the image on the back. You might not be able to see the from these pics, but they are there! |

Cafepress clothing is very poor quality. They're cheap iron ons that are for the most part worse than what you can do at home. The shirts are thin, and the images start to flake off after a couple trips through the washing machine. It's a nice site as far as other products go, but our main focus is shirts since they're the most likely to sell. Not that the other products aren't cool, but it's unlikely more than a couple people would buy something such as a clock or lunchbox, whereas several more people would be unhappy with a poor quality t-shirt. And with the free account, you can only put an image on one product (last time I checked).
So we're going with a different site that is basically the same, except they specialize in clothing that is much higher quality. And they offer printing on black and dark colors. Besides a variety of shirts, there's mousepads, attache bags, teddy bears wearing little shirts with the design printed on them, and a variety of things that can be embroidered with text. It's the same idea as cafepress with a storefront and Denis gets whatever he chooses to markup the prices above base cost, and people can pay with paypal.
The designs can be anything, really, provided it would make an attractive shirt and is an appropriate rating. No blood, extreme violence, nudity, that sorta thing. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Ah, I didn't know that about CafePress. I thought it was a good site because another big Fanart-Fanfiction site, MediaMiner, uses it. Guess you can't always trust those kind of sources though! |

They are a very popular site. I think because of the huge variety of stuff they have. Where else can you get a poster, lunchbox, and thong all at once? Neopets and Marvel use the site we're using, for what it's worth. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Thong, boxers, you name it... Still cheap quality, though. And I dunno how picky everyone else is, but most people who've bought it say they never actually wear them 'cause they're uncomfortable. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Depends on the store. I'd love a Static Beth or Dj Ashba thong if they didn't look so freakin' uncomfortable. Someday I'll get an Ashba poster 'cause Dj is the ultimate decoration. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'll ignore that last post. I'm not even going to go there.
Any how *clears throat* Are we doing the Merch or not? I'm getting annoyed not knowing. I want a god damn FAC mug dammit! I'm not cooperate if i don't have a mug! At least get me a damn mouse pad at the very least. I don't want a damn shirt though...or do i? Suddenly i'm not sure.
First off i need to work on getting money in my account before i could even go there though. And first we need to get this sorted out.
Oh mighty Fallen? I thought you were going ot be cracking that whip of yours and getting people in line? Oh where has our mistress been, i wonder. |

First of all, unless people don't like big selections, let's get some more submissions people. If anyone sees Li around, get on his ass about that. That boy's got more than enough to spare one picture.
Second, yes yes yes, I'm on it. Spent a whole big portion of yesterday on it (besides cleaning up the abuse reports as most had been taken care of and just not moved out of the inbox...*big sigh*).
Yesterday I was erasing the backgrounds from images that weren't transparent. Because I assumed people would like having an option besides white. Some of the ones that weren't submitted to me I can't do that to 'cause I don't have the original file, but the others are now able to be printed on black/colors.
And about the store, here is the complete list of products that can be offered when it's done. What ones actually will be, I don't know yet, but here's the possibilities.
Printed Designs
Short sleeve shirt
Long sleeve shirt
Sweatshirt
Hooded Sweatshirt
Polo Shirts
Baby Dolls
Capped baby dolls
Basketball/soccer/football jerseys
mouse pads
attache bags
Teddy bears wearing little t-shirts
Embroidered with Text
short sleeve shirts
long sleeve shirts
sweatshirts
hooded sweatshirts
polo shirts
hooded pullovers
quarter zip pullovers
denim jackets
fleece-lined jackets
caps
Christmas stockings
Dog sweater coat
Dog jacket
Dog waterproof parka
Bears
Totes
Robes
Anything else would either have to come through Cafepress (that there's at least four rants against if you dig around ) or a site that would do a run of products for a fee. So the only way to offer things other than what's listed up there is for the store to do well enough for there to be extra $$$ to buy a run of ____ and sell them through the site. Which would also mean more work for Denis or someone shipping them out.
It's times like these it's sad Cafepress sucks so much ass.
Yeah. So it is getting done, and all the newest design submissions have been uploaded. It's just a matter of getting more, putting them all on products of the ones that aren't already, and submit them for approval.
Then Denis can go through, edit it however he pleases, and adjust the prices to his liking. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Since the main rant about cafeepress as I recall is poor quality shirts, maybe I'll offer non-shirt products through cafeepress if 99dogs offerings go well (unless anybody knows another site that offers lots of products).

No no, you can obviously do as you want. You could've used cafepress to begin with and I'd have shut up after I knew you had all the info about how bad it was.
Here's the deal with cafepress. Do with the info as you will; it's your site.
~ The free account only allows you to put a design on one product. I'm not sure if it's possible to get around that by uploading multiple images that are just slightly different or what, but I know the general policy is one picture upload, one type of product.
~ *insert clothing issue here*
~ The other products (mugs, stickers, posters, etc.) are still the same quality is DIY stuff, but they generally turn out decent enough. (like the "make your own mug" booths in the malls)
~ There was questionable wording in their policy change awhile ago. I don't know if they've since changed it or what, but it used to be the general impression among artists that anything you uploaded there could be used by cafepress as they see fit. I think it was either since revised or clarified to make it clear that cafepress reserves the right to use any submitted material to promote cafepress.com.
I dunno how much a premium account costs or how they do the profit issue. I know most sites give you a percentage of the markup above printing costs. I have no problem with the site in general, just the cheap clothing issue. 'Cause I dunno about you, but hearing everyone who bought something say it was ruined after they washed it twice is not great advertising. But hey, do the other products. They're probably ok. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
