I have both on my computer, and i'm wondering which you guys prefer, and what seems to have better results. I'd probably argue towards Opencanvas, just because it's a little easier to use. _________________ Hey, I'm lazy! |

I dunno how to use GIMP. I opened it once and it vomitted ten thousand windows onto my screen. Haha. OpenCanvas I guess? I don't really use it for anything anymore, just some quick doodles sometimes since photoshop's a bitch and takes forever to load. _________________ Go Yankees! |

I know how to use GIMP. Those windows are just tool dialogue windows. such as
Main window
Brushes
Patterns.
From the main window click File -> New to create a new file. _________________

(I hear OpenCanvas isn't free.)
I've used GIMP for quite some time. Once you get used to the controls, you can start toying around with what windows you need and where you want them. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

OC 1 is free
I would rather use PhotoShop but I don't mind OC. I just don't care for not having an easy way to undo, or maybe I have not found it on the new one... |

Is OC1 really free? I know there's free copies of it floating around out there and it's easy as fuck to find, but is that really freeware? Huh.
Oh. I voted for OC, but I was dumb and didn't read the last poll choice. Haha. I prefer photoshop above all else as well. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Yeah the original version 1 was a freeware beta version. All of the versions after you had to pay for....haha They made sure you payed for them... *stabs the bad command no data error*... |

In openCanvas 3, if you had downloaded a trial version of it, there was a way that you can bypass it. Even after my trial had ended, I still could make drawings and save them. Just click, "Save as Bitmap File".
I have openCanvas 4.5 Plus now, and it's a lot better than the original. I like how you can imitate oekaki drawings with it.
I'm still getting used to GIMP, and I am glad that it has some tools that my Photoshop Elements 5.0 doesn't have.
I can't really decide what I like more. |

You can save them that way, but it doesn't preserve your layers, so you can pretty much only work on a piece for one sitting and that's it. _________________ Go Yankees! |

GIMP is definitely better. It has a lot more tools, blend modes and filters, and can be used for art and for photo enhancement/manipulation. |
