since i don't have much of a social life to speak of, i usually hang out and watch movies during non-vacation summer days. so i was wondering what movies you guys have been watching lately

this week, i've seen:

party monster- sooo good! with seth green and macaulay culkin, it is based on the true story of club kids in new york in the early 90s. they dress up in wild outfits and hold parties and do drugs and are there to be fabulous. it focuses on michael alig, who killed his drug dealer, angel. i want to read the book.

monster- amazing. charlize theron deserved the oscar and then some. this is also based on a true story, about aileen wuornos. she was a hooker who fell in love with a lesbian (christina ricci) and turned to murder to make a living for the both of them. very depressing yet captivating

dr goldfoot and the bikini machine- i heart vincent price. this is about a mad scientist who has a machine that creates perfect, obeying, beautiful robots (like dr evil's fembots) that he sends out to marry rich men and take their money. frankie avalon's in this too. very campy with slapstick humour.

anchorman- this one most of you probably know. it was all right. some real laugh out loud moments, but the rest was eh. mostly it had a great cast and cool cameos.

hero- good movie with dustin hoffman, geena davis, andy garcia, and joan cusack. i've seen it before but i always like to watch it when it's on. it's about a less-than-likeable man who ends up near a plane crash and goes into the plane and singlehandedly saves all of the trapped passengers. but another man takes the credit and gets money and fame. i love dustin hoffman.

love actually- aww it was such a sweet movie! it features many different love stories that relate to one another in different ways. and it's full of british people (hugh grant, colin firth, emma thompson, kiera knightley, etc). very charming film

mmm sure i've seen more but that's enough for now. sorry if i've bored you. now tell me movies you've seen!

Rush Hour- Man, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are so damn funny together. No wonder they're making a Rush Hour 3.

This Is Spinal Tap- Hilarious, with good music and I so fuckin' want Nigel's Guitar Collection.

I, Robot- Issac Asimov would have been proud to know that it didn't mess with his 3 rules, nor did it have all the comedy Will Smith usually uses. Smith was serious as I've ever seen him. I'm getting that movie on DVD.

Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster- Actually a very good movie. Gives you an idea how rock is and what Metallica went through over the years. Explains a shitload.

Little Nicky- Sandler is fuckin funny, soundtrack has Van Halen and P.O.D., and Ozzy bites a CGI'd bat's head off. I like that.

Kill Bill and Kill Bill volume 2 are probably the only recent movies that I liked.

I didn't like Monster. I honestly don't think that chicks acting was all that amazing. Plus I found it hard to watch the lesbian scenes. No offense to gays but watching them touch eachother and sh*t makes me sick.

Napoleon Dynamite
Anyone seen this movie? I liked it. It's pretty damn funny too. Although it's not one of those movies where the jokes are just laid out for you, it has a kind of cute, pathetic style of presenting itself. It's just a wonderful story, with perfect actors and perfect directing. Although this movie really isn't appealing to most people, you really have to appreciate how pathetically humorous the characters are. And he has moonboots. MOONBOOTS!

Bourne Supremacy - I liked the story, but they missed out some details. It only revolved around Bourne. People didn't get to know how or in what way the old man(antagonist) was involved in the killing of Neski. All in all though, it's a good movie and I did like it.

The Manchurian Candidate - I liked this very much. A very amazing movie, there were some disturbing things, but nonetheless great.

Catwoman - uhhhhh. . . I don't really know what to say about this movie. This movie kinda disappointed me. Beauty products? Steel-like skin? Jealous old hag? I guess they ran out of better ideas. . .

Kill Bill 2 - I wanted more killing, but then again the focus is on Bill. My favorite scene was the battle between Uma and the one-eyed woman(forgot her name). I laughed my ass off that part. Laughing

Mask of Zorro - Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones. I still love this movie although I've watched it alot of times.

The Butterfly Effect - Gotta love the chaos theory. An absolutely brilliant movie. Love it from beginning to end.
This Is Spinal Tap- Hilarious, with good music and I so fuckin' want Nigel's Guitar Collection.
I so wanna fuck Nigel. Oops, was that out loud? He's very cute in the stupid kinda way.

"don't touch it!"
"Well I wasn't going to touch it. I was just pointing at it."
"Well... don't point! It can't be played."
"Don't point, ok. Can I look at it?"
"No."

Did you see it on DVD, though? All the extra scenes are funny as hell.

I saw Little Nicky when it came out. Still one of my favorite Sandler movies.

Ah, what have I seen lately...

Shrek 2 - Yeah yeah, had nothin' to do in San Francisco while Pops was working, there was a theater a block away, and that's all that way playing (mother dearest didn't wanna see Some Kind of Monster...then again, neither did I). It was alright. I didn't think it was excessively funny or all that amazing. Part the problem was a lot of the movie crossed the line into being too much of an obvious parody to the point it doesn't even seem like a real movie with a plot anymore. Instead of watching it and thinking "haha, that's really funny!" I was thinking "Oh, that's just like _____. Clever." Meh. I much prefer parodies like Spinal Tap where you can think back on it and compare incidents to things that happened in real life, but while watching it's still a funny movie on its own.

I watch a lot of movies on late night television in the summer. The crap they put on at 2am. Saw a movie on Lifetime a few nights ago with Bette Midler and the original chick from Cheers. They were both dating the same man, he "died" in an explosion, then when they go to see the body they can tell it's not him by the size of his package, so they go searching for him, blah blah blah. It was mildly entertaining at 5am, though I have no idea what it was called.

i caught about a half hour of spinal tap on tv a few weeks ago. i saw that guitar part ahahaha i was cracking up. i was so pissed off because i had to go somewhere. then when i rented movies on monday, i looked for it, but it was taken out (again! i think they only have one copy of it). soo i got monster and brain candy instead

ooo i really want to see napolean dynomite, nate! it looks very funny. hopefully my friend and i will be able to catch it.

and i love the mask of zorro, too, maemi-chan! it was one of my favourite movies when i was a kid- i used to watch it all the time. i saw it on tv the other day. antonio banderas is a funny man and i love catherine zeta-jones. she's so freaking beautiful it astounds me.

gah i forgot one! brain candy! funny funny movie. i love kids in the hall a little too much i think. it's about a scientist who invents an anti-depression pill that "chemically" reaches into your brain and brings forth your happiest memory, making you feel as happy as you were then all the time. he gets all rich and famous but then finds out it has the side effect of putting you into a coma and trapping you in that memory. it's a really great movie with all the kids playing different roles and different depressed people. god i love it.

i wanted more killing too. but the thing with the snake was pure evil genius. anything involving the eyepatch lady was funny. n the guy with the snow white eyebrows was great too.

shrek 2 disapointing, especially in comparison to the first

the village taught me to never trust previews. if you liked signs, you'll like this. if not, don't bother.

king arthur what kinda movie involving merlin has no magic? it was semi kinda ok.

Kill Bill Vol. 1- AWESOME. Great effects, plenty of blood, good acting. Lucy Liu gets killed. I mean, finally, she's revealed as brainless. Watch the end of the movie to get what I mean.

Collateral
Just simply awesome, and not just 'cause it has Tom Cruise! I've always been a fan of Cruise movies, he's one of the great actors out there. But this movie, this part, he's just perfect. But not to steal the spotlight, Jamie Foxx did an awesome job aswell.

Most importantly, the script and direction were just A+ material. (On a side note, I definately would have enjoyed The Bourne Supremacy a lot more if Micheal Mann directed it.) There's just nothing you can nitpick about it that you can hate.

Did I mention that the soundtrack is awesome? Yup, all the songs are specially choosen to fit the mood and atmosphere of the scene. Plus it features an Audioslave soundtrack too! (Atleast I thought I heard Audioslave...)

It's just a well-put-together movie, no wierd ass present/past stuff, no blurry/continuously frame changing action scenes (think along the lines of The Bourne Supremacy); just well directed, well scripted, great acting and awesome soundtrack. Go see this movie, it compells you!

I, Robot -- Awesome n.n I thought it was really good. I hadn't seen a good movie in a long time (although there were some parts where you could pretty obviously tell blue screen was involved [like where he's walking through all the robots looking for Sonny the first time])

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind -- Really good. It's one of those "thinker" movies, but it was really sad. I guessed what was going on just before Howard showed up at his house, but it was still really good.
Then it sorta sticks to you and a couple hours later it really got to me o.o it's a really great movie (personally)

Anchorman -- stupid. T.T Didn't like it...

The Village -- Miss..... According to pattern, M. Night's next one should be good.

Spiderman 2 -- (saw this a while ago, but meh) I really liked it. I don't like the end with Kirsten Dunst T.T (I don't like her very much....) but the rest was pretty cool n.n

I really want to go see a movie, but nothing good is out right now o.o least not at our theatre (and our's is the only one for a whiiiiiile thanks to it's stupid monopoly thing..)

mm i love kill bill! i still haven't seen volume 2- i have to rent it. and i saw shrek 2 recently, also, but i had already seen it. i still think it's very funny, but i think i like the first one better. puss in boots added some great lines to it tho. i love antonio banderas hehe. o and i really wanted to see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, raymei. i'm glad you liked it. i've heard mixed thoughts about it, my friend said i would like it so i'll have to rent that soon.

the day after tomorrow- surprisingly very good! i was going to see it just for jake gyllenhaal (i love that man), but the movie as a whole was interesting with great effects. not really a good movie to watch on a plane tho. i got a little nervous. (haha my cousin said they cut some parts out of it. like the plane going to turbulance and helicopters crashing into a building or something).

the jackal- a thriller/action thing with bruce willis and richard gere. i liked it but i didn't quite follow it at first (we were all getting ready for our ireland trip so i missed some parts). richard gere was very good in it, with a cool irish accent. it was rather violent tho. jack black had a small appearance, which i thought was great. um basically bruce willis is a ruthless assassin who's been hired by some mob group, and to catch him the fbi release richard gere, a former criminal, from prison to help track him down. not the most original plot but the characters and guns made it cool.

and though i did nothing but watch movies since i got home yesterday, i won't talk about them since they are old (some in black and white! gasp!). turner classic movies had a jimmy stewart marathon so i was in heaven and just watched him from like 3 pm to 2 am. vertigo, rear window, and shop around the corner were some of my favourites they showed, if anyone is interested in him. o and harvey, one of my favourite movies ever!

Aliens Vs. Predator
A horrible dissappointment. I mean, it just doesn't figure or come out well. It just doesn't quite do justice to the Aliens and Predator franchises.

First off, the whole movie was boring, it focused more on how to get to the damn temple/pyramid thing and wondering what the f**k is going on, then it did on action and suspense. There's about two or three action sequences in the entire movie, only one in which lasts for more than two minutes. Did I mention the suspence didn't drag out? Nope, no suspence whatsoever.

It's too bad the movie focused on the humans wondering what the hell is going on, because by the time they figure out what's happening... they're all dead. I'd of liked it more if the humans would have figured it out earlier, with more action, rather than parading around aimlessly through the temple, getting killed. Did I mention that all of the problems in the movie were caused by the humans? Yup, pure human intelegence at it's best. Oh yeah, two of the three Predators die within the first five minutes of their appearance in the temple. Well... s**t.

The Predator's visor effects were a dissappointment. It looks like they just touched up minor parts of the 1987, Predator. It doesn't look all that great. I wish they would have changed it, and innovated it a little. It all just looks outdated. They did however, do a good job in applying all of the Predator's elements. Like weapons, cloaking and other stuff. For the most part it's all good.

I don't know what the hell happened... It looks like they made the humans idiots. Like they all shared the same brain and objective - f**k things up and get killed. Also, with the first Alien/Predator encounter they seemed to make the Alien 10x stronger and smarter, and the two Predators 10x stupider and weaker. Then vise versa for the last half of the movie. WTF? Yeah...

For the most part the movie makes sense. The Predators are hunters and come to earth every 100 years to hunt the imprisoned Aliens who are kept there as prey. Then, some things don't make too much sense. Like why the hell the Predators haven't improved their weapons from the hundreds of thousands of years they've hunted. (This is referring to the flash back and the pyramid being created by the first civilization.) But whatever, most people don't care about these things.

Did I mention the action sucked? Well, it wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst, it's just medicore. Theres about two or three action scenes and they all were short. Not to mention two of the three Predators got pwned by one Xenomorph. In the same scene...

But that's only the first of the problems that lead up to the biggest disappointment of all: THERE WERE NO PREDALIENS! Actually there was one, at the very end of the movie, an alien erects out of the wounded Predator's chest inside the Mothership and then... THE MOVIE FRIGGIN ENDS! Well... the one thing I wanted to see in AVP was saved for the sequel. Which I hope won't be as bad as this movie. They should have just saved this as a "fan-fiction" because that's essentially what it is. The movie doesn't, in any way, tie into any of the original franchize's storyline. Oh, and there's a little critisism about why the Aliens are so aggressive over hundreds of thousands of years of being hunted. You'd expect them to fear the Predators. Nope.

That's all I've got to say about this movie. Even if you're a hardcore fan of both franchizes, I'd suggest renting this. It's really not worth the $8+ to watch it. Instead, go watch something worthy, like Collateral with Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise.

I really liked King Arthur actually it was the best movie i'd seen since the day after tomorrow was released.

I just watched School of Rock which I expected to dislike but it was really really good. A proper feelgood movie well made me feel good by the end and I loved the school of rock song and the step off song was hilarious.

Kill Bill I just watched that, it's good but way too overhyped in my opinion.

Sorry I gotta say I'm a huge vampire fan and everything but Underworld is one of the worst movies i've ever seen. Van Hellsing was better.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was a huge dissapointment for me. It's my fav book in the series and the film didn't do it justice at all. I loved chamber of secrets but in POA they left a lot of stuff out and the whole hogwarts grounds seemed to have changed. What was wrong with Draco as well, he was like all wussy and I love Draco for his proud jerk like attitude and the music was different I love the music in the first 2 films. I blame it all on the director.

Didn't see Aliens VS Predator, cause as soon as I saw the PG13 rating, I knew.... I just KNEW they were making another action flick like they did with Freddy VS Jason (which I did like, however, but notice the R rating?). They're supposed to be scary montsers, and I've never seen a scary PG13 movie in my life...

Donnie Darko If you havn't seen it, you can spend the 8 bucks to see it in the theater cause they are rereleasing it! With extra scenes! Which, since I don't own it, I'll wait for the special edtion on DVD!!! If you've never seen this flick, you're seriously missing out!-R
