Fanart Centrals new layout is upon completion. And we'd like to get the members opinions on the new designs. Here are a few pages provided by the design team. (keep in mind that these may not be completed, some have been compressed and may not be the best quality in these versions, and that changes may be made soon)

I don't like the "Fans and faves" shown by their avvitar. Too many people change them, too many break, too many unnecessary little pictures.

That doesn't really change anything, It is still too many little pictures that could go wrong in one way or another or a combination of them.

It should be noted that the "Score" parameter on pics is visible to site staff members only.

My thoughts:

- We need a different term for a user's personal feature, because "Featured Art" is also used for staff-chosen (Main Page) features.
- Show empty placeholders for all deleted comments. Just to remind users that the comment was still there.
- Implement AJAX for various little things. For example, on deleted-comment placeholders there can be a site-staff link to click and view the comment's text without having to refresh the wholedarn page.

Oh yeah, and we really need gallery-style browsing of faved pictures and stories (on separate pages from each other, of course), and a Watchlist feature.

I LOVE the avatars used to show favs/fans etc. Thought I would throw that in. I've never seen much talk of avatars f*cking up all the time. Besides on your profile page it will only show a grand total of what.. 5 avatars? oh no!

Oh and Strata.. the profile of yours isn't even insulting toward you.

I like all the icons. They are AWESOME. On the main page maybe put the google ad underneath the other content.

I don't like the text on the top of the picture viewing.. the AHE-Profile-Gallery-Blog. The positioning is fine. Just needs to be different font or something. Looks kinda strange.

The right side on profile and main page look a lil .. plain. Might have to add a lil something to make it seem a lil dynamic.

Comments look awesome Smile

The idea of having thumbnails for stories is nice Smile

Like that. Looks less sloppy.

I think the value [b]should[/b] be visible to everyone. Just the amount of votes, not the score. This can encourage more voting, because no one votes.

On a similar topic, I think the ability to add the picture as a favorite should go along with voting as members comment. And the comment can display if that user faved that pic. Maybe that would help decrease the amount of useless comments that consist of only "+FAV!!!"

I like it. The avatar fav thing would have been one of the things I would consider a strong point about it.

I like how the comments and scores are down the side of the Picture view. And yeah, the score should be seen by all members and guests. The icons on all the pages are nice too, kinda have a three dimensional feel about them.

Measuring the images, we will need to auto-resize submissions for logged out users: 750px wide, to fit in that design. And we probably need to have an option to "fit in screen" after Full Size has been clicked.

And there should be a Design Team profile somewhere Surprised

Hey, this looks pretty nice! Well, I think, I personally prefer sharper edges to the rounded/soft box look, but that's nothing big. Otherwise, pretty nice. I like the little blog bits for the stories, and the new setup for the front page.
My only question is, are we really going to be using Times New Roman? Personally, I much prefer Arial or whatever font it is that we're currently using.

Otherwise, looks nice. Can't wait to see it up. Very Happy

I think the new layout plans look great.

They look smoother; more sophisticated. Kinda reminscent of deviantArt.

I can't wait to see it put into effect.

Does anyone know when the new layout's going to take effect?
