Isn't Sonic a resident of the Anime universe these days? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Not a lot of options here. I'd say anime/manga is just not working. DBZ and for example... chobits doesn't look alike at all. There are many sub styles in manga, and I guess sonic x is one of them. And of course we have the more realistic looking drawing styles too, we tend to see in the older and more traditional comics, that doesn't look like newer comics either. I shouldn't forget disney style either. Or tabletop rpg character style you see in D&D a lot.
blablablabla..... |

Hey, is this a thread to talk about drawing styles? If so, why isn't it in Art/General?
Then again, it's not like the pollwriter did a lot of research into the varying styles of both anime and non-anime.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

this woulda been a lot better if their had been more types of drawing. for instance.
american comic book style: guys have huge muscles and girls have huge breasts
which is what i would pick
plus there are so many other cartoons besides invader zim.
and this would be in the general section. |

I'm more of a Anime/Manga person, but I love to do real people...
Are you going to answer everyone question? Why is this topic here? |

I picked anime/manga though I do add my own touch to it. But...
...Shouldn't this belong in the Art section? |

I'm guessing they put it in the tv section because of the Sonic, Zim, and anime options... but it should be in art.
Invader Zim all the way, baby! Zim fanart addict. The blocky style is just too fun. _________________ |

Uh, well, I guess my drawing style would fit into the "cartoon" category? I luff the way it looks. So, naturally, I luff cartoons! =]
I have nothing against anime/manga, I used to love looking at anime pictures! But I must say, it got a little....boring. Let's just say that when people draw anime beautifully, it's truly beautiful! But when they draw it...unskillfully, you can tell.
Besides, with cartoons, you can take any sort of liberties you want to.
Don't get me wrong, I love a beautifully drawn anime picture! t's just that....There aren't too many right now. O_. |

VERY true

Also very true
Myself, i am quite fond of shoujou manga drawing styles, if only to look at the art.
it's odd, because i don't really read shoujou manga. O_o
Kiyohiko Azuma(Azumanga daioh)'s drawing style is too cute not to love, but i wouldn't classify the manga as 'shoujou'. I prefer to call it 'crack in an ink and paper form' the same goes for ichigo marshmallow, which has a style just as cute too look at.
I do read shounen manga, but i don't typically care for the drawing styles.
Although, a great artist to mention is masashi kishimoto(Naruto), whose art employs that extra hint of realism into a shounen manga style. Tite kubo(bleach) is another great example.
i don't tend to like a lot of cartoon drawing styles, the oversimplification of the human(more commonly animal) form is cute, but not effective to tell a story. although i do like the DC animation styles, justice leauge ftw. Marvel is just as good. i loved the chara designs for evolution, in that they simplified the usually realistic people ever so slightly, but kept them real enough to be taken seriously. Teen Titans found the perfect balance for this, and made it possible to sympathize with the character's plights and just as easy to laugh at them when they where being silly. Taking a few tricks from anime were a nice touch as well. |
