In my opinion YES!! Look what they have done to Naruto for god's sake! (Come on ALOT more blood spurts out of naruto when sasuke stabs him through the chest. e-e)
Same deal with Yugioh, i mean the first season was soo violent and innerproprite for the youngsters they didnt even bring it over here. Same deal with Sailor Moon. They are also killing Ultimo in shonun Jump. Vice in the uncut manga scenes is a foul mouth lil thing saying shiat and fook in every other sentance.
Proof!:

Wikipedia topic on the matter:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editing_of_anime_in_American_distribution
Really, it depends on what they edited and why. Naruto blood probably isn't the best example to use here. Stuff like the edits 4Kids made to One Piece, on the other hand....
Wikipedia article includes several side-by-side comparison images showing various kinds of editing and/or censorship. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Holy smoof how could I forget the yugioh symbols?! That was silly in my opinion. Kids will just see them as stars, no biggy there. And I got something to point out about the Ash ketchum edit! They show him holding a sandwich yet in another episode Brock cooks them those rice based foods and they show the food! What the heck yo? O___o That was a purely dumb edit right there.
They killed one peice with all the editing hence why I dont watch it anymore -sob-
They also made Naruto say 'believe it!' all the time cause they didnt know what the heck he was saying in the jap version (Dattabyo isent a real word)
Fans got soo pissed off at this they were rioting and ranting that the editors were killing the character making him out to be an idiot. THIS boys and girls is why Naruto doesnt say "Believe it!" as much anymore because the creators didnt want to lose their fans. _________________ Our life is made by the death of others...

I watch my anime on the internet nowadays. Cardcaptor Sakura for one. I used to like Cardcaptors, though, but when I found the original... Yeah, those censorship folks need to lay off, I think. |

Read the paragraph accompanying the Ash screenshot. The company in charge of localizing Pokémon thought that the rice ball was too Japan-centric for U.S. kids to recognize it as a food item. So they changed it to something more American -- a sub sandwich. It may seem silly, but at least it wasn't an important change.

4Kids is quite infamous for their very liberal censorship of One Piece....

There's nothing wrong with having a personal catchphrase, the problem was more that English Naruto kept saying it in the same exact intonation every damn time. No variation. It wasn't annoying as a catchphrase, but from its sheer repetition.
I hear one episode of Naruto: The Abridged Series (a YouTube parody) has Naruto saying it so much it even annoys him. But that's parody. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I know but still, changing the food and then showing the food they edited out earlier was weird.
Also I am curious as to why in yugioh they changed the Password that Seto needs to get into pegasus's mainframe from Alcatraz to Pegasus. That isent a super bad name, just the name of a prison, not like the password was Hitlar or anything.
I can understand the edits in Naruto and yugioh when it comes to people being strapped on the cross. That right there was a good move cause the religious people would flip a gasket if they saw that. (Yet some religious folks still manage to find it and freak about it.)
I wasent annoyed by the catchphrase itself but how he kept saying it like what you meant. I cant play my Naruto ultimate ninja game anymore cause he says it at the beginning of a fight EVERY time xD it's murder! Lolz. (I prefer NUN3 now.) But there were some hardcore fans out there that threw a fit about the catchphrase itself, silly really.
Btw NOTHING can beat the Yugioh abrigad series. >3 _________________ Our life is made by the death of others...

I don't think you know what the word Liberal is.
Applying censorship liberally would be a socially conservative action.
Conserving environment ahead of financial gains would be considered liberal. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Well, the only time you see the word "liberal" applied to politicians is . . . uh, Democrats? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

If you're ignoring the existence of third parties, other countries, and liberal Republicans, etc, then yes. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Ok ppls let's not drag this into a politics conversation. If you want to do that go over to politics and talk about the libral term nn
They even censored abit of pokemon too, and I mean as in big no no scenes such as this one guy putting a gun to Ash's head. They had something in Anime insider about it xP
Also how come they wouldnt show the one introduction in FMA and instead kept it at 'ready steady go' ? And what's with censoring the parts in Inuyasha where they find the soliders with no heads, but have no problems in showing Onigumo's butt and nearly his front half and showing demons get shredded to ribbons and even decapitated? O_o
Not to mention I didnt need to see Inu's face in his 'mom's' chest xx _________________ Our life is made by the death of others...

Anyone using a variation of herp / derp is automatically a troll in my book by virtue of those words' sheer stupidity.
